I've known that GM trucks not only last longer on average but they also have the lowest cost of ownership. That's including maintenance and lower depreciation. My '14 has been great. Only problem was the trans would shift a little hard between 1 and 2, but it stopped after 1-2,000 miles so I can only assume it needed to be broke in. My 86 Custom deluxe was very dependable, but having the granny transmission with the extra low gear and only 3 regular forward gears I tried not to take it on the interstate. Biggest thing I had to do to that one was the clutch assembly but that's to be expected since it's what I learned how to drive a manual in. My 98 Silverado gave me a lot of trouble but it was all my fault from how I drove it and treated it.

I know some people have had issues, but when you look online at forums, you'd think most all of them stay in the shop. The great majority, likely over 95%, have only been back to a dealer for complimentary service and/or having recalls checked/performed. A quick glance at Ford and the new F150 has plenty of issues, as do the Ram, Toyota and Nissan. I don't believe all the complaints on any of the sites, but I do think when people post just to gripe, it's gives a negative vibe to some.

ya... I don't like the onstar navigation so it seems like my post make the truck look bad.

Non of the other brands offer anything better.

 

It says nothing about how much I like the rest of the truck.

These are the best trucks made and they do hold their value. Just look on any dealer lot at the late model used Silverados and Sierras. Whoa! You could almost buy a new one for the price of the "pre-owned"... Love it.

Yeah I admit I griped about some things with this truck. It's vibrated but I've narrowed it down to crappy tires and I'm still dealing with the shifting driver's seat. I also wasn't too happy with the frame rust showing up so early but I don't think it will be a structural issue. Some things could be better. Overall though it drives like a dream....leaps and bounds better than my 2007 4-speed and the engine so far has been great. I've only really taken it in for oil changes and re-calls. But yes I expect it to hold its value quite well. I was surprised my 2007 was worth about $12k on trade in with 3 accidents on the title and 98,000 miles.
