VLED LMZ Headlights

Jon A has tried them and has had success. However he has a Sierra Denali and not a Silverado. Not sure how much of a difference that will make. Also he had to 3D print a new dust cover (this is why I say I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make since I don't know how much space is behind the dust cover on the Silverados)

I have a Sierra as well and have a set of dust covers from him on the way and a set of the headlights on their way as well [emoji106]

Mine just came in today, will be installing them for the High beam and Fog Lights.

Why not low-beam?

Why not low-beam?

When I talked to vleds they said was still better off with the HID kit if I wanted to retain my DRL function.

I got a set of the VLED's LMZ 6k and installed them on my low beams, the DLR work with them ok, the only problem is the dust covers, everyone keeps saying dirt and moisture will get in the light but the main lense housing is separate than the rest and sealed when the bulb is put in so I'm not sure other than protecting the wires why they made it this way, I have read in another forum that someone sells extended covers but at about $100 each and don't know if this will even fit with these lights, but performance and looks these are very nice looking, I have a LT with regular light lense.

From the gasket on the bulb to where the bulb sits in is NOT a enclosed area. if you leave your caps off, you are going to have moisture problem, period.

This is proven, I, myself has holes on the caps for my HID wires, I didnt caulk it with silicon and moisture eventually got in. You better get a solution to your caps soon

Interesting, I too left my caps off since I put my HID's and have had no issues with moisture.

I have a set of the extended caps JonA was making. Didn't cover the holes on the back at first, went through touchless wash to knock some dirt off, front headlights had so much moisture in them I could barely see my projectors.

Put some desiccant packs in and sealed the holes with duct tape, moisture left. Removed packs, sealed the holes with something better than duct tape, no more moisture.

Well after closer inspection of the lights I did notice they do have holes where that center reflector post is so yea it's not sealed and living in Florida I'm sure I will have moisture issues at some point unless I find a way to seal it, debating on either modifying the oem caps or try the extended ones that are being made, they really didn't leave much space to work with and any mod I will have to fully remove the lenses to get the cap on, I really like how these look so I'm definitely going to find something to work but till them I'm switching back to keep it dry.

Its been awhile so I'm checking back to see if anyone has found any mods to fit LED bulbs on a Silverado LT (not Projector), the issue has been the caps are to short and wont fit with the bulbs, I still only see one person selling 3d printed ones with no reviews for $100 a piece which is still out of my budget for some caps, just wondering if anyone has overcome this issue and has a way to make them work, I have gone and installed the HID bulbs for my low beams but still have my LED's and would like to use them in my high beams.

I've been getting random messages via text and email recently from onstar saying one or more headlights may have malfunctioned. They are still going just fine. Has anyone else received this and does anyone have any idea why I am? They've been installed well over a year, I just started randomly getting the messages about a month ago.

    • Curious, did anyone ever get a fix for the vibration reported here.   I have a 2024 Silverado with 6.6 duramax.   I’m noting the same vibration resonating up through the steering shaft into the steering wheel.    Best way to describe- like someone is tapping on the steering shaft/components and it’s resonating into the steering wheel.    thanks.
    • Hi friends - first time poster. I have a 2015 sierra Denali with 150k miles, I’m the second owner and she’s given me 75k of great service. I run a pulse AFM disable device. Starting Thursday when I exited the freeway after a short local ride it started idling rough, with an obvious misfire shake and was down on low end power.  I got it home and hooked it up to my scannner and found no codes but in live data a pretty bad misfire on cylinder 5. I replaced the coil, plug and wire with all new OE replacements (Delphi gn10165 coil, acdelco wire and 41-168 plug). It’s still behaving the same way after firing the parts cannon at it.   I know cyl 5 is a non AFM cylinder so I am not thinking this is AFM related but I’m kinda at a loss. injector? Bent pushrod? It’s running too well over 1k rpm to suggest those IMO. Has anyone chase this issue before and what was it? Any suggestions?
    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
