CHANGE ENGINE OIL

Recommended Posts

Hello all, i am fetting this message when i turn on my truck. It is a base model 2500 5spd with only a few options in the computer: you can choose from three languages, a trip meter, an hour meter and a odometer.

The owner's manual gives the run around for base models, it is more geared towards keyless entries with an elaborate computer. Ive tried pressing and holding the selector button on the instrument panel but it only either move the change engine oil display to odometer or changes the language.

I'm just trying to get the truck in good shape while im stuck trying to figure out the p1516, 1516Pd coes.. Thanks for any help!

Turn key on, engine off. Press accelerator pedal to the floor and release 3 times. This should reset the engine oil life monitor

Ok now it says oil life reset. Im not sure if it will give a percentagemreading or just say to change the oil when its ready, but probably, i will just change it in a year like the owners manual says if you dont drive much in a year.

Is that ICP in your sig?

It will not give a percentage , just the message

mjoekingz28 - don't know about a year, but the truck will display a "change oil" message when it's time. The time will be based on how hard you press the truck. Old school used to be 3K miles like clock-work, but with the new oils and engines 10K miles may not be unreasonable
