Anyone ever buy one with their truck? Where you happy with it? What did it not cover? What did it cover?

Never bought an extended warranty on anything. Never regretted it either.

If their selling it - it's to the sellers advantage

If you feel you bought a truck that you feel is gunna break (?) what were you thinking ... ?

 

If you buy an extended service plan (ESP) Only buy form the OEM - GM

 

You can buy it just before the OEM is almost up - so why prepay years before for something that cost the same later.

 

ESP's are not fixed to a set price - they vary according to what each dealer wants to price it at - shop around

 

ESP's fine print is very fine print - dealer sales words are not what your getting, some require much more routine maintenance than what one usualy would do, and possibly by the selling dealer only (sometimes).

 

Save your money for paying your own repair ...

Thats what I thought till I got this truck. Wish i bought it now. But it probably wouldnt cover all the problems I've been having. Good info though thanks guys.

If your gonna buy wone, buy one that a GM dealer sells. Don't buy one from a flyer sent in mail or a phone call. You would be amazed at the stuff some aftermarket warranties will pull.

I bought one and am glad I did. The radio/navigation unit went bad last year and the extended warranty covered it; saved me $1,000. And the 4wd solenoid switch quit working a couple years ago and that was covered.

 

Like everyone else has said, buy only from the dealer. The ones offered in the mail (particularly from Ohio) are not reputable, from what I've read.

My policy is NEVER, but they dropped my interest rate so much, I almost had to. I also thought about the autoride shocks, auto transfer case, heat/cooled seats, NAV with HDD, etc. And decided it would be a good idea on this truck. It was factory gmpp with 0 deductible 5/100. Cost 20 month but they had to buy down my rate $700. Owned 2 years 27k without a single issue with the truck so far.

I bought a GM major guard esp that covers everything bumper to bumper comes with a rental car if needed .Have used it a couple of times since the factory coverage ran out.. With shop rates around $90+ hr. a small issue can quickly turn in to big bucks!!!I I have a 09 2500hd with low miles 50,000 and want all the coverage I can get And I will extend my esp when it runs out,short $$$ for great cove.

Complexity of modern vehicles being what they are, I say, Bring it on!

 

Came out like a bandit on my wife's Enclave.

$1105 was the total that took us to 7yrs,and 128k miles.

Trans took a dump at 68,000. That alone was $5,500.

Water pump at 78,000. Another $675.

Navigation screen, power seat motor, power window motor.

 

 

On, say, a 2006 Silverado 5.3? nope. They go 100,000 without batting an eyelash.

 

Vvt, Direct injection, cylinder activation, modern, quirky transmissions?

And don't get me started on modern diesels.

 

Modern vehicles are getting to the point where your average Joe cant afford to repair them.

 

Call me crazy, but I won't have anything made in the last 8yrs thats NOT in warranty.

 

 

Crunch the math. Until 2007,pretty much anything coukd be replaced, by YOU, on your truck, for $1500,at most. Entire engine, transmission, ect.

 

Try replacing a engine, or transmission in a 2015 for that in 6yrs,when they start taking a dump.

 

We are in a new era. GM dose not want anyone outside of a GM dealership turning wrenches on your vehicle, and God forbid, you do the work yourself.GM isnt making 305 TBIs with power windows /doors as a "High end" truck anymore. There is more tech in an auto ride suspension, as an entire 1995 vehicle, and it aint cheap.

 

Think about it. Most extended warranties can be had for well under $1200,usually thrown in as bargaining chips. That will pale in comparison to even the smallest of failures.
