Rust on engine?

Just got a brand new 2015 Sierra 5.3L not long ago, and was looking it over the other day and noticed this part of the engine that doesn't look "new"

Looks like its rusty and out of place? Or am I crazy?

Maybe this part of the engine is cast iron and the rest is aluminum? Excuse my ignorance, I just want to make sure.

Mine are the same way. They are cast iron and everything else is aluminum. It's normal nothing to worry about. Don't think gm is using used exhaust manifolds from the junk yard hahaha

Ya mine was rusty like that with only 9 miles on it when I got it. It's normal and nothing to worry about.

That look is pretty much unavoidable with any high temperature part like that. Even my stainless headers look like crap after a few years of running them on a daily driver.
