Best 25/50/400 Mile Numbers

Maybe not. I hear the 3.08 gets less AFM than the shorter gears. Would be interesting to see how the 3.42 rear in the 5.3L does. Taller gearing forces the engine load to go up, so AFM would be harder to maintain. Sound plausible??

I'm running the 3.42 rear end with the 5.3...

I mistakenly by accident reset the damn scores back in October, but I did just now ran out to the parking lot to see the 400 right quick. Surprising to me, it's back up to 19.8 and I've pulled my boat nearly every weekend with the exception of just a few. We will be going to the beach at the end of March, it'll be mostly flat ground trip unlike the East Tennessee Gatlinburg trip back in September. Should be interesting to see the mileage on the flat ground trip.

From my trip out West last fall. Ascending, descending, driving at high elevation, etc,. 5.3, with 3.42 GR, on 87 octane. These are real numbers, but obviously lots of descending elevation on the best 25.

This was the overall mileage of the trip on the trip meter @ 21.9 MPG. I kept all the gas receipts, recorded all information per tank, and hand calculated overall gas mileage for the trip @ 21.723 MPG. So the DIC was not too far off overall, and actually could be more accurate than my first and last fill-up, which are the two that count. This leaves a margin of error of 33 miles on a 3,806 mile trip, which could go to the DIC, my hand calculation, or somewhere in between. Could be as simple as the pumps I used on the first and last fill-up shutting off at different levels, say 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon one way or another.

I had the odometer peek when I got back, so I lost those high best numbers after the reflash. My truck does get excellent gas mileage, and although I sometimes drive like grandpa around here, there was absolutely no babying it on that trip. Highway speeds ranged from 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, and even 80 MPH in places on I-80 in Wyoming.

My new best numbers since the peek for late fall/winter driving on winter blend gas is 25 @ 25.6, 50 @ 23.1, and 400 @ 20.2, so it will be next summer before they increase again. I'm averaging between18.7 and 19.1 MPG overall per tank since winter has set in. I normally average between 21.5 and 22.5 MPG overall per tank in the warmer weather. My worst tank MPG since September 2013 was 17 point something last winter during the extreme cold snap with lots of remote starts, and some playing in the snow.

Obviously I'm extremely pleased with the gas mileage.

Don't know what my 400 is, but my 25 is 22.8 and 50 is 21.9. However, those were set on the dealer trade to the dealership. lol I don't want to reset it because I'm sure they would be much worse.

...and mine is a 3.42 geared ccsb. I haven't reset my trib B for over a thousand miles and it's at 14.1. The longest trip this truck has been about 130 miles, once. 99% of the time this truck doesn't go ten miles without stopping.

My mileage over all is pretty horrible on this truck, it a stock CC All Terrain with a 5.3 and 3.42's and I'm getting around 15.6 on the freeway with the cruise set at 67mph. My first truck this year had a 6" lift with 35's and a 6.2 and it averaged 17.9 on the freeway. I need to have it checked out because that just doesn't seem right to me.

Mine fluctuates too much cause I always have something in the bed or am towing something. I also use remote start a lot too and sometimes I'll be on my phone idling in a parking lot for 20-30 min. so none of those help. I think my lifetime avg mpg is 15. I've also only owned it during the winter too so that plays a factor

Wow. What octane gas you running? Do you use a lot of cruise control?

87 octane. Yes on the cruise control, if on the highway cruising, around home not so much.

The truck is a week old. It idles quite a bit for warm ups and quick stops. I fill up every other day and really TRY to keep my foot out of it. At the end of the day I don't watch these numbers. Just drive and use the truck as it should! Enjoying every mile, although I hate seeing how fast they're racking up.
