Reverse Camera **UPDATE**

Just tried routing the power from the trailer reverse power to the camera.  No dice... To repeat, 2WT, upgraded to 2017 I05 and flashed for camera.

Man I hope someone figures this out. I'm in the same boat added camera to 2014 2WT and reprogrammed hmi. Just get the service rear camera message. I have a wire spliced from the reverse lights for power but I don't know which wire on the camera harness to run it to. I've found a lot of conflicting information on what pin/wire does what.

So I think I've finally found the wiring diagrams and pinouts needed to do this. Looks like we are set for camera+, camera-, camera shield/drain, and ground. Ignition 12v and reverse relay need to be tied into. 

 

From what I've found you tie reverse relay into the white wire at pin 1 and tie 12v ignition into the red wire on pin 3. I will be trying this today and will update.

From what I've found you tie reverse relay into the white wire at pin 1 and tie 12v ignition into the red wire on pin 3. I will be trying this today and will update.

Let me know if you have any luck.  I tied reverse light power (from the trailer harness) to the white wire at pin #1 with zero luck.  I have not, however, connected to any other wires.

Any update on this for the 2wt? Just received my reprogramed hmi today and set up my touch screen but I'm also getting blue screen with service rear camera system message.

I tried getting power from reverse into the cameras harness white cable and nothing. MVI said I might be missing some wiring that goes into the hmi module

I thought that same. Double checked up by the HMI, from what I could tell I believe I have the proper cabling up front and at the rear.  I did have another thought.  For the camera connection itself, if the power circuit doesn't exist, maybe the ground doesn't exist either.  Connecting the camera ground to an external ground might be a good idea to try.  If any of you guys figure it out, please keep me updated.  I will do the same.

I'm going to check this today. If those wires are there then you could be correct and we might need ground and power.

Thanks to Phil Gamboa, he found me this diagram for the Grey plug on the hmi module. As you can see pin 5 and 6 are ground and power for the camera. As someone stated a couple of post back that he check the engine fuse box and we don't have the fuse or terminals that power the reverse camera. My theory is that from that fuse box it goes into the hmi module at pin 5 and 6 and from there it powers the camera. So we have the wiring from the module to the camera but we aren't powering it or grounding it. Now we just need someone that has time to try that. I will try as soon as I get some free time. I also believe we have stated that on the junction box by the spare tire the 3 bundle of wires that go into the camera plug that the white wire is power. NOT CONFIRMED, so we need to test it out.

Good research.  I am away from my truck right now for a couple weeks or else I'd be trying that this week.  Please keep us updated if you find anything out!

The first picture is the connector for the junction box, you can see where I highlighted that those are the ones that need to be coming from the HMI module, I assume they aren't there on the plug. So it looks like power and ground but now I'm not sure if you can just power it and ground it or does it have to go through the HMI in order to function correctly. The third picture is the camera plug that goes into the junction box.

So I gave power and ground to pin 27 and 28 on junction box and camera did not work. I guess we need the signal to come from the hmi module at pin 5 and 6 to go to pin 27 and 28. So I order the terminals to crimp me those 2 pins and insert them into the hmi module and run my wires to the rear junction box. Hopefully this will solve it. Even tho I am thinking that I could still be missing power for it but we will see soon. Part number for the terminals that go into the hmi module. This is what they look like. Looks like k74 and k188 need to communicate with each other, maybe this is where pin 5 and 6 from k74 plug into k188 at pin 6 and 18. Gotta try a few ways until I get it to work.

Dang.  This is ending up much more complicated than I had hoped... There was a commenter on here with a 2015 2wt that supposedly got it working with just tapping into power for pin 1.  So much for that with the 14s.

Yea I saw that comment. My guess is because of that new law that all 2015+ vehicles have to have a camera. I need to know where the k188 module is so I can check if the signal + and signal wires are there. If anything I think we can just jump it from hmi module k74 pin 5 and 6 to the pins 27/28 on x63a junction box which is the signals wires we need. But regardless we need to add the pins to the hmi module. I will try this maybe tomorrow (pins arrive tomorrow) I will have alot of extra pins that I won't need so I will send some to who ever wants to do this after me. You will need your own Dupont crimp pliers.
