Carter8 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Anyone try this on a 2016 wt Silverado model yet, I bought the camera as everyone mentioned and it does not match my port that is empty, the port on my truck is larger than the camera port
Robert Sutton Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I have a 2017 sierra 1500 with the elevation edition package. 7" screen though. Would this solution work for me? Buying oem camera and going in?
SilveradoSaver Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 No I don't think so but may be we did is there any way that I can post pics on here? You can post pictures on here by clicking on the "More Reply Options" button on the right corner when replying on the forum (next to the "Post" button). But I'd take a look in your Settings on your truck to see if you turned this feature on by accident. If so, it's a simple fix to turn it off.
b85chevy Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Just posting that I have successfully installed a reverse camera in my 2016 Silverado Crew Cab LT with the IO6 navigation. I used the following parts: 84062896 camera - $10084016231 tailgate latch handle - $50 G-RVC OBD Genie rear view camera programmer - $200 The camera part came with the complete harness which includes a receptacle for the tailgate lock actuator. The OBD Genie worked without any issues. For what it is worth, I tried to get 4 dealerships to program the rear view camera option. On my last attempt, GM TCSC told the dealership that they could not assist because the camera is not an authorized accessory.

Did you order the Camera, latch, and genie plug all from the same site?
b85chevy Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 The camera functions perfect, no glitches. Lines move with the wheel, resolution is OK, night time viewing is good but can be washed out by the brake lights. I purchased the GM parts from my dealership and the Genie from obdgenie.com.
adamnthe_rado Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Has anyone attempted this on a '17 model with ioB radio?
Robert Sutton Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Has anyone attempted this on a '17 model with ioB radio? I have done a lot of research on this. This is what I am going with for ioB once I get y tax return. http://www.infotainment.com/products/factory-gm-tailgate-backup-camera-kit-for-option-code-iob Full package and looks like a straight forward setup.
mdreynolds Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Found this online. https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/638/UI%20Bulletin_127.pdf

fireman519 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 First Time Posting I just bought a '16 LT. It has the 8" My Link System, but no backup camera. From what I have read in this forum and others(as well as my dealership) says mine has everything except the camera and latch assembly. But it is not plug n' play. The only way my dealership will flash my computer is if I have the VCI number. They quoted me $1000 for an aftermarket system. Yeah Right! My question is about the HMI. If you do a HMI swap/ replacement, does is show up as a "Unauthorized Flash" to GM? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Handle/Camera and a programmer which will make it all work. Check out the videos on their site.
AskMeAboutMySilverado Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I know this is a little late in the game to tell what I did: I have a 2016 LT that had the io5 installed with no reverse camera (and no navigation) I purchased the camera and tailgate handle w/camera hole from gmparts.com or one of those sites installed the camera and handle in the tailgate. the harness to the camera was a direct plug and play from the camera to the module under the bed of the truck by the spare tire. The previous harness controls the tailgate locks rather than trying to have my HMI reprogrammed by dealer or anyone else, I bought a 2016 io6 HMI (with navigation) from an ebay sellerProvided them with the VIN and told them the VIN was not coded for backup camera, but that I wanted it added. no problem 3 days later, I installed the new HMI and, presto, worked perfectly with lines and all. had I had all parts at the same time, would have been less than an hour install time. Costs: $90 for camera, $35 for tailgate handle, $750 for io6 (navigation upgrade), $250 back from selling io5 Total: $625 to get stock camera and navigation added let me know your questions (I ended up selling my io5 HMI online) Edit: Added costs of what I did
14_silverado Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 So I know it's been kind of back and forth but is there an official yes or no on whether or not the GM factory camera will work with io3 or not? I was gonna try to venture into this install but I'm not sure if it's possible on the io3 or not.
WesternMike Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Can anyone confirm if the 2014 Silverado WT2 has wiring in place for the back up cam? I already have the camera and harness hooked up to behind spare. IO5 HMI that has been regreened for my truck is on the way back, praying it will be good, if not I'll need help with finding how to wire it.
