Johnnylayg Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Anyone experiencing abnormal paint peeling or chipping with 2014 Sierra? I thought it could be a rock but there's no scratch or dents just straight missing paint the size of a golf ball
bsbard Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Found the camera and handle on EBAY, Thanks. One more question. Should it just be plug and play, I have the port by the spare tire, or do I have to have the dealer flash it? 2014 Chevy Silverado LT crew cab with 4" screen. bsbard Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Got my camera and tailgate handle, installed it myself, plugged it into the harness by the back tire. Took it to my dealer, $145 labor and it works. I have about $275 in it. Works great and the 4.5 inch screen is big enough for me. I also went ahead and got the GM remote start installed. Waiting on OnStar to update my phone app.

I have a 2014 with a dealer installed GM remote start and both GM and Onstar swear up and down the app cannot be used to remote start the truck. I can only lock and unlock the doors with the app.

Mando_2322 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I just installed some led reverse lights on my truck it's 2015 GMC Sierra and when I installed them I noticed that when I put it in reverse my back up camera had lines that weren't there before is it because of the LEDs?? Also when I was installing them I removed the tailgate (not for the installation but for something else) but I didn't completely take it off only the right side was off the left side was still attached. Did a wire came loose?

Krvin Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 WT with the io3 interface (4.2" screen without Bluetooth as I understand it) is it possible to install a factory camera on this car with existing connections?
hjmayeux Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I just installed the backup camera kit from Anthony Brush on my 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition. It looks and works great! Thank you Anthony for all of the help!
Black Jack Davey Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 2015 Silverado 2500 HD LT model with io4 my link radio. I bought the tailgate oem camera from a guy here locally in Norcal along with the reprogrammed hmi. With the new hmi, i get the backup grid for a second before it goes black as expected when no camera is installed. Today I installed the camera and plugged it in to the middle port in the 5 port plug down by the spare tire. The camera gave me a crystal clear picture for about 15 seconds and then I just got the "service rear vision system" warning on the screen. I disconnected, then reconnected the plugs but camera still doesn't display on screen. I called the guy who sold me the parts and he didn't have an answer other than maybe the camera or harness was faulty. Strange that it worked for a few seconds then not at all. Is this ALSO going to require the dealer to "rewrite VCO" to indicate vehicle now equipped with rear vision camera? Or was that actually done when he reprogrammed the hmi using my vin#

We ruled out bad camera and bad hmi module. I ended up paying him $100 to run a new dedicated wire from the camera to the hmi module behind the glove box. Now it works as it should. It remains a big mystery as to why the camera only worked for a minute when connected to the factory harness down by the spare tire.
