IT is def not for everyone and your friends sisters uncles sons cousin's best friends sisters boyfriend does not know EVERYTHING about computers or he wouldnt be working at Mc Donalds at age 42 ( nothing against anyone who does, but dont lay claim to a title if you havent worked a day in that field ) Sigh... "OH my nephew is into computers...." Yes im sure he has an impressive collection of porn....

Yep, I need to buy the shirt that says "No I won't fix your computer". Most people couldn't handle a bad day in IT. Such as our new spam monitor called mimecast has hijacked everyone's emails and won't release them and we have 300 users breathing down our necks.

I make really cool maps for the short version of it lol.

I'm a GISP (geographic information systems professional). Currently I'm the GIS coordinator for a timber management company. Previously I was with the State Department of Transportation as a District GIS coordinator, and did some GIS technician level stuff for the State Tax department in the mine/mineral and oil and gas sections.

I work plenty with microstation and autocad, also have a little programming experience that's handy with GIS. Been dabbling with creating some cool mapping apps for smart phones in my spare time. Also do some surveying from time to time if needed and plenty of GPS field work. With GIS the possibilities are endless as I've seen it used in all industries.

That's a really good field of work to be in. Good pay and a good skill to know. I took a gis class in college and it was really hard and frustating, but a cool thing to play around with none the less.

Id like to get better with but I hate computers and they hate me. It's a hate-hate relationship haha

My worst day in IT was a few weeks ago... got an email that Thermal threshold has been exceeded in our server room, current tem 82 degrees. 8:30 at night... Nobody technically on call, co-worker had been drinking so he cant drive, nobody else answered their phones... and my wifes at work. Threw both kids in the truck after waking them up, drove the 5 miles to work. Setup my kids with drinks and snacks in the conference room and netflix and was here till 12:30AM... didnt get anyone here to pick up the kids till 11pm. I took the next day off ;-)

ME. Next semester will be the hardest and then it's downhill a little. I'll be a 5 year student, still pissed at myself for even thinking about switching majors.
