Lift + Tune MPG Question

I have a 2014 crew cab z71 5.3L with a 7in lift and 35x12x20 Toyo M/T tires. I have a magnaflo exhaust, Airaid Jr kit and a black bear tune.

I realize that you do not buy or lift a truck for great gas milage.... however, I have met multiple owners who seem to have much better results than I am getting.

Prior to the additional i was averaging 21 mpg highway, 17 mpg in city.

After the upgrades, I am getting 16-17 high way and 13-14 in town.

I had hope the tune would help however, it did not. I did notice better acceleration but my mpg may have actually dropped slightly.

Are any of you having the same results? Is this to be expected?

Any helpful perspectives?

Thanks,

Jesse

I think your doing great and I don't believe any of those who claim good mpg lifted on 35" tires weighing 80# each. I have 295 55 20 toyo at2 that weigh 60# each and get 13.7 cruising on interstate at 72 mph.

Have the other owners regeared? Have the same driving habits? And same aggressive level of tire? Same type of mods or do they have more/less?

These are the first 4 things that come to my mind as I know they are all big determinants.

I'm also in to see what else can help improve mileage. I'm debating between 4" or 6" lift right now and do a lot of driving so I'd like to still get the most mileage I can.

Also that is some good mileage you are getting right now. I've seen a lot of people lose more than that with lifts on these trucks.

Did you make sure to have Justin correct the tire size in your tune by chance? Have you verified that one mile on your odometer is actually one mile on the road via GPS?
