While I use 4WD Auto tons in mixed conditions on the highway, you're really better off in 4Hi in deep snow on roads and especially off. In fact, if it's deep offroad I find 4Lo works best, completely eliminating traction control and stabilitrac interference, etc.

I know this is a pic thread and stuff but I was just wondering since for me yesterday I was out having fun and got stuck with stock tires. What tires do you have and how do they do in the snow. It appears they do fairly well.

Putting it in either 4hi or 4lo at least turns off TC. I'm sure TC also turns off if you're in auto 4x4 and it kciks into 4hi. At for stabilitrak I don't think it turns off in 4 but I'm not sure.

Is yours 2 or 4wd? This last snow we got here when I took that last pic I posted it wouldn't move out of that spot in 2wd with the factory SR-As, but in auto 4 or 4hi there was no problem. these tires aren't too bad even in snow unless you have a 2wd.

On my 2011 25HD in 4WD Hi Tractiion & ST stays ON for SURE! so I alway turn Traction OFF when snow plowing ..

i have 4wd z71 it haven't had a problem till yesterday when i guess it turned out to be that i bit off more than i could chew

Yup, Duratracs, 275/65-20. They rock in snow!

Yes, a message comes up saying they're off and the idiot lights remain lit IIRC. That's the only way to roll in the real nasty stuff.

 

I got a warning light in 4Hi once when I forgot to shut off the stabilitrac before sliding sideways through a drift, I guess it tried to keep me from sliding and couldn't so it figured something was wrong. It stayed on for a couple drive cycles and scared me as I thought I had broken something....

I guess we can consider this "snow". Couple pictures of my truck after it snowed last week in Tuscaloosa, AL. Got about .5" in total! Then it melted by morning.

Anybody have a problem with their auto 4wd? Seems like when I have it in auto, the front is engaged like it is in 4hi. When I an cruising down the road and get into the throttle I can hear the front engaging. Also when I started from a stop and turned the wheel it grabbed the front wheels without the rears slipping.
