I installed a RANGE AFM DISABLER about 1k miles in so I can't say for sure but right now my truck doesn't use much oil. The oil usually goes into my intake from the dirty side crankcase vent. Installed a catch can last night and even after only 50 miles the tank has an ounce or so in it. Quite ridiculous if you ask me

The last gen trucks had problems with excessive oil consumption. I don't think you're the first one with a K2 to notice it, but we won't really know until these trucks start to rack up some higher miles in large numbers.

If you're willing to void your warranty, AFM delete will take care of it.

I just changed my oil a couple days ago. I checked the level before doing so (check it at least once a month also). No noticeable change on dipstick and this was with 7400 miles on the oil. I now have 34,000 miles on my Sierra and I have never noticed any change in oil level. Hopefully it stays that way as the mileage increases.

I've only had truck about 4 weeks oil was supposedly changed before I purchased it. Has 20k on it whoever changed it wrote down under hood full synthetic 0w20 8 quarts. I never checked it when I bought it guess I should of

That says you're burning a quart every 800 miles. I drove my truck 8000+ miles between changes. If my truck did that I'd burn 10 quarts out of my 8 quart pan. It'd probably look like an old Zundapp moped fogging for bugs.

The truck calls for 8.5 quarts (both 6.2 and 5.3). So that makes you atleast 1/2 quart short. I just changed my oil since I passed 24k miles and I put in mobile 1 syn 0w20 w/ ac delco filter and when I checked the oil before I drained it I was about 3/4 quart below the "full" mark. That oil had about 7500 miles on it, so my engine does not eat too much oil.

Yeah, I often misstate important facts like that when I try to make a point. My bad.

Maybe not an ounce, that was a rough guess based on what I saw. Obviously not very good at measuring things out lol. Here's a pic

lol it's cool but I posted that at the exact same time as you did (I know b/c doozer78 had the last post when I was typing and then I got that notification that someone else posted). I was originally responding to doos78 saying that his receipt said that he got 8qts.

No worries. But CJ's catch can has a lot of oil in it. I'm guessing more that 1/2 oz from that pic. That's still a lot. Something weird going on...

Even if it was only 1/3 oz, that's like 3+ quarts in 8000 miles. I hope you weren't burning that much before??

Is it all oil? Or is there a lot of condensation (water) under the oil?

Spec is 8 quarts. GM revised it because 8.5 was showing over full.

I'll have to keep monitoring it. I've put probably another 125 miles on it since I've checked it. Have to check it again. May be going in to the dealer sooner than later. And no, there was no condensation under it. Just pure oil
