why can a diesel truck be ordered without the driver alert package?

You've heard wrong; they're superbly comfortable and supportive. And if you don't like the driver alert function... turn it off.

Because the Duramax is part of the Duramax Plus package which includes the Driver Alert Package. Can't option for the engine without the package.

I read that post as well. I have drove hundreds of these trucks and the seats are perfect. Enjoy this feature and don't get caught up in everything you read.

I just picked up a Denali HD Duramax yesterday and it was ordered without the alert package. It has all other options other than DVD.

That's weird. The GMC build & price site forces you to add "Duramax Plus Package" which has driver alert included.

All I can say is tthat I have the driver alert package and so far (4000 miles), the seats are perfect and the best I ever had.

GM build and price is a joke, go to the dealer and sit down and spec one on the actual gm site and it will allow or kick our any option there is, shows real options and real money.
