Exhaust ?

Hi Everyone..

Just purcahsed a 2015 Sierra Denali with the 5.3L v8... Traded in my 2013 Sierra Denali with a 6.2 and im struggling with the adjustment.

This new truck runs nearly silent. I don't want anything crazy loud but would like to atleast hear the sound of a V8 under the hood!

Will it find its voice as it breaks in? Or is it destined to sound like a V6 forever? Also, can anyone recomend a low cost improvement to add some rumble?

Thanks!

Pretty sure they are quiet by design ;). Most people don't want to hear the engine/exhaust. I am not most people, so I understand what you are saying....but I also understand why they made them like this.

Best bet is to replace the muffler or get some sort of catback if you want some noise. Or go nuts and get some headers.

The GM/Borla sold only by GM is suppose to sound what your looking for according to members on here with it.

I've debated getting the Borla, I just don't want any drone while in 4cyl mode.

Muffler delete and leave the flapper in place a 50 dollar mod and it sounds awesome. I have no drone at all.

I'll have to explore under the truck, haven't been there yet. Need to see where the flapper is.

It's right after the muffler. Just cut muffler out weld in a 3" diameter pipe and your good to go.

I deleted mine and it sounded awesome for about a month but now it rattles like crazy, I think I'm going to delete the flapper and rear resonator and just for with the Borla Pro xS muffler. Had it on my Avalanche and it didn't drone and sounded awesome.

I went to my local shop and had a single in dual out flowmaster installed and it sounds awesome but i also got diablosport tuner and done away with the 4cyl mode

It cost me 250 parts and labor but bein thats a lease im not sure what all your allowed to modify lol

I have flowmaster catback on mine - not too loud, but enough sound to make it sound like a V8 Truck and not a Tesla.

It doesn't drone either, it is definitely on the tamer side. I had a magnaflow catback on my previous 07 5.3 and while it sounded great it droned pretty bad in V4 mode, I don't get that w/ this flowmaster.

It is probably the cheapest stainless catback on the market (tips are 304 and rest of it is 409)...I bet you could get it for around $500 and can install yourself.

You have the option of straight back pipes or side exit behind the mudflaps
