Over the past few weeks ive notice a "Tick" passenger side,3rd bank back... took it in to my buddies shop they couldnt get it to make it. It was 30 degress( and night, im in WI) when i would here it. I replace my wheel hubs this past weekend( Stupid ABS issue) and right after i started it nothing( 40 degrees)... Drove around the block and let it idel and bam! Tick, tick tick tick.....Oil pressure was between 40 and 0.. I dont burn oil like most Chevys... My pops said it didnt seem right and either did I. I drove her home and when i accelerated the Tick got louder then went away, and i havent heard it... Im due for an oil change in like 800 miles( i NEVER go off the %) I use Royal Purple, with at Bosch filter. Ive use that since i got her back in 05...Im sorry i refer to her as a her, shes like my wife, except she does ask for alot, of yell at me, and i can always trade her in...... hahhaha Anyways Shes an 07 Classic. EXT, 4wd, with the 5.3litre. with 107K.

My question to you guys, What the HELL is it and how do it get it to go away... If i can get it to make it again and have my phone on me ill get a video of it...

Ive heard people say its Lifter tick..... pump is plugged, Manifold etc.I read some posts on here but no one ever says what it turned out to be. YOu guys who had the same thing speak up! hahaha.

Ive read stuff that a qt a tranny fluid for 20 mins or 500 miles will loosing sludge up and it will go away but really tranny fluid... and ive heard miracle oil with fix it...

My 03 just started doing this, I'm going to try flushing it before my next oil change even though most don't recommend that. I blame myself on this particular truck because it doesn't get driven enough ( 80,000 Mi on a 03).

I have piston slap when starting the engine on Sara (2001 Z28 40K original miles), the light ticking goes away within 1-2 minuets, also the fuel injectors emit a tick on these LS engines.

How did you get an 07 in 05?

Anyway, my Yukon 207,000+ miles has been doing this tick rattle since it had about 15,000 miles. I only use Valvoline 5W30 conventional and AC Delco filters........... not often enough (like every 5-6000 miles) and she is still running like a champ. I wouldn't worry too much, bad noises don't normally come and go

My 04 only did that when really cold.

Yeah, that's when my 03 is doing it the worst. Can't hear it from inside the truck though, It can only be heard if you are standing next to the drivers side fender when it is first started until the engine starts to warm up.

I did 1/3 bottle of 5 min motor flush, idled it for about 5 min, drained oil replaced ac delco filter, and New 5w30 on my 2004 Silverado with 178k miles on it. I was going to do this 3 times w that one bottle of motor flush and 3 oil changes, but after only one time, no more tick, no more slap, no noises. Runs and sounds smooth. If u are hesitant to use entire bottle of motor flush, just use half or, like me 1/3 bottle.

Glad to hear you solved the problem, sounds like a sticky lifter, just keep an ear to it.
