euromade Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 FYI, took my truck in Monday for a 2.5 hr software update. The update took care of the "radio" slow performance, rear camera freezing as well as "performance updates" for the ECU. Also, I ordered a set of the head lights that are on the way. Not sure when they will be in but it is nice they are going to be replaced. I can notice immediate improvement when changing Pandora stations... +++ Interesting thing is my dealer did not know as to what software or hardware had to be upgraded/replaced until the truck was plugged into their computer. I guess all relevant updates are now downloaded real time from GM. My service manager said some models were also eligible for a complete head unit swap. (It was not the case with mine) Plan on spending at least 2 hrs just for the software update. Will be reporting on the head lights upgrade once it happens...
POS VETT Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thanks for the heads up. I've been wondering about this issue, that since the truck is a "supercomputer" on wheels, it needs "reflash" once in a long while.
nfisherman Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I've been wondering about updates. I took my truck in last week with a complaint about the headlights. The dealer said there's a TSB out for that they increased the voltage from the BCM and now I'm just waiting for the new bulbs to arrive. My truck seems to drive better since I got it back. I thought it was just in my head but maybe they updated something besides the headlight voltage.
9tango Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I'm in the same boat... Still waiting for Headlight bulbs.. Going on 2 weeks. Hopefully soon.. Dan in IL
CounterMeasure Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 What's this about new head lights? First sticky thread of this forum. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/165447-headlight-illumination-issues/
9tango Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I'm in the same boat... Still waiting for Headlight bulbs.. Going on 2 weeks. Hopefully soon.. Dan in IL They finally got the bulbs in on Thursday. I went in Friday to get them changed out. I don't have any before and after pictures, but I can now say I can now drive at night on a dark road and actually see where I'm going. I wouldn't say its like daylight bright, like some of the led lights you see out there, but at least now it's comparable to the rest of the traffic, where before, it was dim in comparison. Dan in IL
mawint Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Anyone else or just me think that updating the radio by going to the dealer is a huge PIA? As a web developer and a tech guy, this seems not very well thought out. My buddy was able to do it in his truck (different brand) by downloading the update to a flash drive and plugging it in. He said it was done in like 10 minutes.
Coppertone Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 When i click system update on my intellilink, it asked to insert a SD card. (I think I'm remember this correctly). Would it not accept an update from the internet like other car makes?
BootyHunter86 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Is there a way we can do it our selves? Anyone else or just me think that updating the radio by going to the dealer is a huge PIA? Would it not accept an update from the internet like other car makes? I don't think it's fully implemented, they had plans of an app market too. I don't know if that ever got released either. From what I gather from reading the radio reception thread is that updates for the radio system must be done at the dealer. Is there a way we can do it our selves? I'm with ya. where did your friend download the software? My buddy drives a Ram. He went to the uconnect site, put in the last 8 of his VIN and had an update that he was able to install from a flash drive.
euromade Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Per my service manager, they do not even know if you specific truck is due for an update, until they plug it in. I guess software updates are not considered a recall. From now on, with every oil change I will be making an appointment to get the software updates...I know after the last update, my truck locks and stays in the V4 mode much more and my Pandora playback is much more stabile.
Coppertone Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Is there a list of updates what bugs they fix / updates are included with each one?
