Remove front and rear parking sensors

I've been searching for about an hour and a half on how to remove the front and rear parking sensors with no luck. Can someone that's done this or has knowledge on it help me out, or point me in the right direction to read up on it? I can see myself breaking them trying to pop them out. I'm wanting to do this on a 15' Sierra to wrap the front and rear bumpers.

Not sure if I'll be able to wrap the bumpers while on the truck, so if anyone has any thoughts/insight on whether or not I need to remove them, add that in too! I found how to remove the upper bumper and grille, I'm assuming it will be pretty straight forward to remove the front one after getting those pieces off. The back seems like it would be fairly easy. If you have a how to or advice on any of this Id appreciate that as well. Thanks in advance guys/gals

It's easy to remove the sensors, the actual sensors are only the center part, the plastic that surrounds it is what actually holds it. On the back side it forms a 3 sided box like shape. Kinda like an "n" on its side. Just pull the 2 legs apart enough to remove the sensor and then feel on either side and push in and you can remove the plastic surround and you'll be left with a semi perfect circle (semi perfect cause they all have a notch in them to make sure you place the correct sensor surround in the correct hole)

The front bumper has everything on a plug so if you undo that plug then any electrical equipment on the front bumper (fogs and sensors, not sure what else there could be) will go freely with the bumper and no longer tethered to the truck. So you can remove the sensors at that point and it'd be easier. Not sure if you can do the rear the same way

Thanks Mike! I think I can wrap the bumper while it's still on, as long as I take the sensors and fog lights/housings off and can figure out how to remove the tow hook surround so I can tuck the vinyl behind all these areas. And also take off the grille and upper valance or upper bumper, whatever it's called.

The plastic trim between the bumper and the grille are going to the the easiest things to take off. The tow hook surround can be removed without removing the bumper, but it's a PITA from what I hear. I personally find it a hell of a lot easier to pull the bumper and then pull out the fogs and tow hook surround. Just cause some screws that need to be undone can be undone a lot easier without the bumper on the truck. Some may disagree with me but that's what I think.

Mike, I guess I'll just go with my initial thought, and pull the whole bumper off. From what I read on a couple of the tow hook surround threads dealing with replacing them, I think you're right, easier to pull the bumper. I may peel the dip off the center piece and surround and wrap them too.

Crafferty, I've been wanting to do this for months man but don't have a garage and the weather obviously has been, well winter lol. I've got about 30 some odd square feet of the vinyl left. I practiced with it on the mirror caps and it matches great. I can't wait either my man I can't either lol.

I'm right there with you my man. I live in apartment building so the weather plays a huge roll in my mods. I found a really good deal on amazon and purchased 5ft x 6ft roll of 3M 1080 black gloss for $40. In my infinite wisdom while online shopping I didn't quite realize how much vinyl that is. Needless to say I have a giant roll sitting around my house that will only be used on my doors between the windows. I'm now thinking about using it on some interior trim pieces since I'm not a huge fan of the weird dark blue/gray colored interior plastic.

I think my roll started out around that size too haha! I figured since I never used it besides on emblems, Id have plenty to practice with, and if I decided I wanted to add it to something down the road Id have some on hand.

    • There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.
    • drive the truck back to the dealer and complain that the button works.

    • I have a 2026 2500 HD Ultimate. My phone app says there’s a software update available. It’s something about improved battery management and something to do with the running boards. I follow the instructions for the update but the “Check for Updates” option is greyed out in my settings menu. Has anyone else seen this? How did you resolve it? The help message just says “see your dealer” if the download doesn’t work. I’m just trying to save a trip.
    • Fuel mileage?  That's all how you use your right foot.  Exhaust will give you sound.   Stock exhaust 5.3 is 2.75" diameter piping.     If the truck is nice and worth putting some $$ into it, I'd go for a Corsa catback.  I had one on my 2019 old body 5.3 and it was just perfect.  Zero drone, just driving around and cruising on the highway you'd think it was stock, but when you opened it up it was like a Camaro with the factory dual mode.  Corsa bumps their catback to 3in diameter.
