Time for new tires

My Bridgestone Dueler AT RH-S tires on my 09 Silverado Z71 crewcab 4x4 are starting to dry rot crack down in the tread channels. Size P265/65R-18. No dry rot on the sidewalls, which is strange to me. If it wasn't for the dry rot, they'd last me at least another year. I never saw a 5-year old tire dry rot like this before. 47K miles on them now. Tires have never been rebalanced, but have been rotated every 5000 miles or so. I've driven them until everyone is telling me they are not safe anymore (but they have not lost any air yet).

Am looking at Bridestone Dueler AT Revo2's, Michelin LTX A/T2's, and Michelin LTX M/S2's in the same size. Hankook Dynapro AT-M's have also been recommended to me, but I don't know anything about Hankook tires.

I like the idea of the Revo2's because I can get them with outlined white letter sidewalls, but have been told their treadlife is short.

I have had good luck with Michelin tires in the past on other vehicles, but the Michelins are only available in blackwalls in this size. I could live with that, but the tread on the A/T2's is 'different' (even TireRack says that), and everyone raves about the M/S2's, which is listed as a highway tire--but I wonder if they would be any good in snow.

(I know the new BF Goodrich AT KO2's are cool, but most of my miles are highway and I don't need the additional weight and expense).

Any thoughts/comments from those with experience with these tires would be much appreciated.

If you are going by when you bought them they may be older then 5 years. The sidewall has a code that tells when they were made.

I always check them when I buy new tires now that I know what to look for so I don't get sold really old stock. I have no experience with those tires but I like those Bridestone Dueler AT Revo2's personally.

I put general grabber at 2's from tire rack on my truck and they embarrassed those crummy bridgestones on day one when i used 2wd where i'd normally use 4wd. 285 60 18's no rubbing stock everything. if you don't do anything with truck, get the p rated tires.... i put max weight in mine and drive on some pretty crazy construction sites so i got the E rated tires for the extra plies for protection and weight capabilities.... those bridgestones with 50psi made me nervous with a bed full of mulch.

I put 2 sets of Revo's on my 99 as replacements with good results. On the 08, I replaced the stock tires with the Michelin LTX M/S. They didn't kill my mileage, and were adequate in the frequent snow we had this winter. I'd maybe prefer a more aggressive tire in the winter, but they do alright and their usefulness the other 8 months of the year make it worthwhile.

Check out the Cooper tires. I have been running Cooper Discoverer AT3's on my Silverados and they have been great in all conditions. They also have a 50,000 mile tread life warranty.

Best price online usually at Discount Tire. They also have a much better selection than tire rack.

Bridgestone has a rebate program going in now too when you buy 4 select new tires. They will sent you either a $70 or $140 gift card depending on how you pay for them.

Just food for thought.

On my trucks I've had Goodyear Wranglers, Bridgestone Revo's, Michelin LTX, Firestone Destination LE2, and the stockers.

All tires were good in deep snow.

Revo's had the best side bite on hard pack snow.

Destination LE2's are the worst tire I've ever had for sidebite on hardpack snow, but best tire for dry surface, also the lightest and quietest tire of the group. Side note, the Destination LE'2 are more of a highway tire, but Firestone gives it a 7 of 10 for snow traction.

The Michelin's were the best all around tire, I'll be getting those going forward.
