Has anyone had the center LCD display in their dash dim during your drive? When I start up the truck everything looks good however by a half hour or so the display is so faint it looks off. I don't know if this has a daytime sensor or what but even if it does it is so dark it's not readable.

I called the dealer and they make is sound like I hit a switch or a knob that dims it down but I'm not seeing it. Anyway I was wondering if mine was an isolated case or if this is a common issue.

Thanks,

TB77

Hi Trailblazer77,

I'm sorry the LCD display in your Silverado appears to be dim. I understand you've contacted your dealer regarding this concern, have you had them take a look? If not, please send me a private message and let me know if you'd like me to set up a ride along for you.

Thanks,

I can send you a PM but I don't know if what I'm experiencing it actually a problem or not.

Here is a photo of what the screen looks like when I start my drive. (Sorry it's upside down I couldn't get it to rotate.)

And here is what it looks like after the half hour drive home.

If it does that roll the brightness knob left of the headlight switch. If it doesn't come back it's not likely the cause. But with all the electrical I've had, they aren't going to fix yours either, so don't get your hopes up. The warrantee is a game, if you happen to be able to make it do it in front of their eyes, they will fix it. Otherwise it's operating as designed. And customerservice will lie and mislead you, talk very rude to you, and after all that close your case with no resolution or inform you they did so.

This is exactly what happened they told me it was functioning as designed, I'm not really happy about it either.

Same here mine did it about a year ago and I did the same thing with the dimer wheel, never done it since.

My other 2500 HD just got sideswiped by a driver that fell asleep behind the wheel, so I went and picked up another new one from our lot, and it has the same issue. My other one worked fine, and I had 90,000 miles on it. This one has only 1000. I'm taking it to the dealer, but was hoping I would find something to point the dealer in the right direction. Didn't have too good of luck out of them on the Stabilitrak on the other one. Of course I can't really blame them because apparently any Stabiltrak codes are not stored, so they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

Ok, took it by the dealer last week, was able to show the service writer what it was doing, she is going to contact GM to find out the next step to schedule an appointment. Have not heard back from them yet, so apparently this problem doesn't have a solution yet.

Still haven't heard a reply from the dealer, it does appear to be related to outside light. The brighter the day, the dimmer the display. This didn't happen on my previous 2015. That's why I made the service writer look at it while it was doing it. Also it has the rough idle that my 2012 had, that my 2015 didn't.

Models: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 2015-2016 GMC Sierra With Base Cluster RPO UDC

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern

Some owner's may comment that the DIC display in the cluster will dim or fade, as shown below. It may be noticed this concern occurs when the interior is very

warm/hot from the sun load or from extended heater operation. It can also occur after extended vehicle use.

The DIC display is designed to dim with high temperature exposure. This is done to protect the DIC display from damage.

Recommendation/Instructions

None. If the DIC Display is dimming due to high temperature exposure, it is performing as designed

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining

steps do not need to be performed.

The picture they show is the exact cluster that you have and it looks EXACTLY like what you have going on.
