My dealer Sales Mngr (also a friend) was telling me yesterday they were informed that GMC has committed to building 12,000 more Sierra Denali's 1500's this model year (more allocations available to dealers).

Don't look for much in the line of incentives as they are not staying long on the lots.

The question is how many will have the 6.2L. I couldn't find a '15 Sierra Denali with the 6.2L before I ordered mine (they had some 5.3L). Checked with several dealers and none of them had any and when they came in, couldn't keep them on the lots and that was back in December.

Dealer will have to specify a 6.2L or they will be 5.3L "Pattern" orders. GMC is building them, dealer just has to ask for one. I had to order one to get a 6.2L, my TPW in 5/18, about 4 wks from when the order was 4/21.

5.3L base engine is what is selling the Denali.

Pattern order means all the dealer has to do it check one box and he will get a truck built the way GMC wants to build it, dealer can choose the color but not options in pattern orders.

I was lucky when I got mine back in July. The dealer that I went to in San Antonio didn't have one but they found an exact match in Houston. Dealer went and got it and I picked it up the next day.

When I bought mine in mid-January they seemed pretty hard to find. My dealer found (1) within 500 miles with the items I wanted, 6.2L was one of those. The car he found was at the other dealer's lot for 6 days when I snatched it. Doesn't surprise me that they seem to be a hot item now.

When I purchased mine in October 2014 it was a hard to find item then as well. I believe it was one of only two White Diamond with black interior and the 6.2 motor. It was shipped in from the midwest to the east coast for me.

6.2's are still hard to find. A nationwide search on Auto Trader will yield less than 50 available. My local dealer told me the same as above, unless the dealer specifies 6.2, they all get 5.3's.

As much as we all love 6.2L's, I know I love mine, the average person would assume save the 2500 and get a little better economy. Also the technically tow the same weight.

When I test drove the 5.3, I could tell there's been a fair amount of improvements vs the previous model. As for towing, shouldn't be huge difference in the two. Maybe little better mpg with the 6.2 and better pick up when entering a freeway. As for fuel economy when running without a load, seems to be minimum difference (as long you keep your foot off the pedal). Might have some advantages in resale with the 6.2.

But, most 6.2 owners will agree with, the increase of testosterone and adrenaline rush when you put the pedal to the floor is well worth the extra $2500!!!

I think every vehicle GM makes should have the 6.2 liter engine. Even the compacts. :driving:

I'm kinda surprised to see this... My dealer had over 30 Denali's on the lot, and I looked at probably a half-dozen other dealers, and they had more Denali's than regular Sierra's.. Most of which had 6.2's. I got extremely lucky and got a non-Denali 6.2L .. aside from the digital gauge cluster, I don't know of any other options the Denali trim has that mine doesn't.

Apparently not every dealership advertises on Autotrader, because I know there's around 4-5 6.2 Denali's for sale in the OKC metro area. Not one showed up on there.

I think the differences are that digital gauge cluster, magnetic ride, and leather type/cut/placement. For example, the back is also leather and not vinyl.

Back in November when I went to order my 6.2L Denali, there wasn't a single 6.2L Denali in Texas, much less one that the options I was after. In order to test drive a 6.2L, I had to take a Yukon out as any truck with the 6.2L was very rare.
