Got my new Silverado today

Im a first time Chevy owner picked up a 2007 Silverado 1500 long bed work truck with 145k miles dealer asking $9900 I got it for $8500.

Im definitely looking to mod it cosmetically and help take away from the "work truck" look. I got the long bed for hauling dirt bikes.

1st question I think I want to change out the front grill and add some chrome. Normally I black out the chrome or get rid of it but I think chrome on white looks good.

Should I go with chrome end caps or white end caps? Whats a good combo in your opinion? Does anyone lift long beds with rims and tires or is lifing a long bed work truck a dumb idea?

 

More importantly do you guys have any advice for a first time owner of this truck? Any things that are a MUST DO or any tips if you were me starting out fresh?

I'd go for the Chrome Caps.

Level it and put bigger tires on it. Also a wheel swap goes a long way by taking away the "work truck" look. There's not must does really for these trucks. They are pretty solid.

I've had a couple of work trucks and changing the wheels really dresses them up. Sounds like you are an excellent price negotiator!

Another idea! Since you are going new end caps anyway, how about the foglight upgrade, the end caps are the most expensive item anyway (i think, not sure though) and you won't be wishing later that you should have done it. Your ride though, just an idea.

Yeah thanks guys. I think after doing the chrome grill (with fogs) I think Im gonna get a set of Method wheels and Toyo Open Country At2's in a 275/70/18

I just got a set of the Toyo's last month. Put them on Thursday, then drove thru a monsoon on my way to St. Louis on Friday. Great tire, never hydroplaned, road noise is very limited, great grip. Very happy with them.

Ive had them before and they are exactly that. Not as meaty as an MT but the tread is pretty aggressive

I would recommend some light window tint, and removing the stock 1" rear leaf spring spacers. This is a "free" MOD that will help lighly tame that rear "work truck" rack.

 

Also, how about adding the driver's information center pad? It is a simple plug & play MOD that is cheep enough & adds some cool features to you truck. Many guys on here have already done this on here. Takes about 15 minutes to add & your truck is already prewired for this feature.

 

I would also maybe paint the steel center bar on your front bumper white since you are adding the hightrim level front chrome caps & grill...

Would the leafe spring blow raise or lower the back end? I was gonna get a leveling kit to raise the front to match the back.

Adding the D.I.C. (I mentioned above) would give you the est & cumulative MPG reading on your instrument cluster.

 

Removing the rear 1" blocks will lower the back of your truck 1/2-3/4" (for free)!!

GM also sells a complete fog lamp kit for your truck. The OE fog lamps are more like "driving lights" than actual fog lamps. Some guys have changed out the regular white bulbs for yellow PIAA bulbs with more "FOG LIGHT" success.
