Pro Comp Pro Runner SS shocks installed - Review

I was only able to install the rears last night, not sure when I'll get around the fronts in this AZ heat, but so far I'm very happy with the ride.

After removing the stock black shocks I was really surprised to see how crappy they were, they took very little effort to actually compress the shocks all the way down by just pressing or squeezing the ends together. On top of that when you would let them go the rebound/recovery was absolutely horrible, a snail moves faster than they extend out. I can definitely see where the shock could have problems with stacking up on a bumpy road.

Now for the Pro Comp shocks, the fit and finished looked great on both the shocks and struts. When installing them the rebound/recovery is WAY faster than stock and also WAY WAY harder to actually compress in. I accidentally let one fully extend because I didn't time putting the bolt into the mount hole right and the shock extended way faster than I had anticipated, I couldn't get the shock to compress at all by hand under the truck with the top mount bolted in ( I was actually disappointed in my self that I couldn't do it lol ). I ended up having to use a jack to compress the shock up and bolt the bottom up.

Onto the Ride, the rear end feels much more controlled over bumps and seems less jittery. I have a couple of roads that are pretty bumpy and would normally cause the truck to bounce and feel jittery, with the new shocks they seem to absorb them much better and keeps the rear end planted. Now I will say that the truck feels "stiffer" but not bouncy just more of a controlled stiff ride if that makes sense. I also noticed that when going over larger bumps the rear end seemed to recover much faster and took the bump much smoother but then flattened out and planted itself way better than stock.

Also when steeping onto the back bumper and jumping up and down the truck has way less movement and doesn't swing/roll side to side when shaking from the side of the bed.

The best part about these shocks is that I ordered them during their buy 3 get 1 free deal, icing on the cake!!

Here are a couple of pics of the shocks.

Forgot to ask, where did you order from?

As for the 2 setting, is it stock height and then +2"?

Still liking these shocks?

Yup! I really do, they feel great. I still haven't gotten around to install the front's but the rear is much better than stock.

I notice a difference also when towing, more controlled and less of a swaying bounce to the rear end.

Did you manage to install the front adjustable pro runner? There seems to be a lot of information available on the Bilsteins but not on the pro runner. A local dealership sells the pro runner but I'd like to hear an objective review.

Sorry, I sold them before I ever got to install them. I decided to do it right and went with Fox 2.0's.

However the person I sold then to is very pleased with them.

Thanks. I agree that the Fox 2.0 is the way to go however I am not ready (or able) to make that big of a leap!

I completely agree, it's a big decision.

But I don't think you can go wrong with the pro comps, I still have the rears on and can't complain at all.
