New guy here from central PA

Hello everybody, Dave here. I'm new to the forum and Chevy trucks. I've been on several forums before though so I'm used to them. The wife and I just bought a certified pre owned '14 Silverado in tungsten metallic and love it so far. It's the LT Z71 with the all star package, double cab with the 5.3 and unfortunately (even though it doesn't seem too bad and we don't have any heavy trailers to haul) the 3.08 gears. It's been doing really good with gas mileage so far and averaging a hair over 17mpg with 50/50 mixed driving. That's actual math too not what the DIC says (it's showing 17.9, so very close).

 

My last truck was a 2008 Nissan titan extended can 4x4 which I absolutely loved, mainly because of the power. Before that I had an '02 F-150 5.4L that I hated with a passion. I think part of the reason I really like this Silverado is because from what I've read they make about the same power (a good chunk less torque though) as my titan did. My titan dyno'd 302.8 rwhp bone stock and was an animal. I had a hypertech, magnaflow exhaust and airbox mod and it used to run 14.8@93 in good weather. This Silverado definitely has some pretty good get up and go too though and LOADS more aftermarket than the titan did. For now I'm leaving it stock but down the road I want a blackbear tune, LT's, air raid jr and a nice exhaust (99.99% sure it's gonna be magnaflow because I really like them). I already put a bedrug bed liner in it. First one I've had and I LOVE it! It's not a heavy work truck and mostly will haul just household stuff and some dead deer. From what I've seen though you can still use a bedrug pretty hard too. I also added the GM drivers side grab handle because my wife had to grab the steering wheel to get in and we'd rather have a grab handle. In the near future we're going to put a tri fold tonneau cover (probably a tonno pro) and a leveling kit on it.

 

I'm a car guy (not so much cars, just anything with wheels in general) and a wrencher so I do all my own maintenance and mods and LOVE to tinker with stuff. I can't leave anything stock. LOL

 

My other toys are my 07 Jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon that I like to crawl rocks on and my speed fix which is a '12 Yamaha FZ8. Both of them have been modded up decent too (what the budget allows). My jeep is a JK body style and I'm from PA (Pennsylvania) and it's a rubicon so my username pretty much everywhere is pajkrubi. LOL A lot of people think I'm middle eastern or something and my name is Paj Krubi. LOL

I did the bow ties in graphite. It's rustoleums version of plasti dip so I can peel it off if I get tired of it.

I had a 2006 Fz1. Loved that bike. Sold her in 2012 with 28,000 miles on her. Worst day of my life. Should have never done that. Now I'm looking for another one!! LOL

Yeah they're a lot of fun! This is only the second season that I've had mine and she's got a little over 9,400 miles on her! I bought her with 7 miles as a leftover.

Yeah it's always crazy during the show. I actually don't like to go believe it or not. I think 99% of the rigs in it are a total waste of money and resources because they're nothing more than trailered around show queens. I have more respect for somebody that actually USES their jeep or truck. I prefer the York jeep show because most of the jeeps there are trail rigs with scratches and dents. Plus they have the cool obstacle course you can run too.

Thank you! The jeep is actually a pretty mild low budget build. It just has a basic 2.5" spacer lift, a little armor and a bunch of free mods like the cut down stock bumper and flat cut stock fender flares. It works VERY good though for what it's got. Granted starting with a rubicon helps a LOT. It comes from the factory with front and rear electric lockers, 4.10's in the axles, dana 44's front and rear, 4:1 low range transfer case gears and a few other little goodies.
