Powder Coat Bumpers??

Recommended Posts

What I had planned was having both of my bumpers black chromed. That way they still have the look and durability of chrome while being black to match my truck. I haven't looked into pricing or anything, but I know it's what I want to do.

Just get the oem primed bumpers and have them painted, chrome is not made to be painted, they do hold up if they are media blasted and powder coated tho( I am a painter and a collision center)

I ended up having the bumpers professional wrapped. Just thought I would show everyone how they turned out.

I plasti dipped my front bumper but it peeled off during a trip on the highway in the rain. How much was it to wrap your front bumper??

I had a friend wrap both for $250. He told me the market price was $250 for each one though.

Yes, to take the front bumper off is very time consuming but worth it in the end.

I had my front and rear bumpers media blasted, powder coated red then painted victory red to match. The powder coat will keep the bumpers from rusting long term and I felt that it was the only way to go. Spend the extra money and do it right. Powder coating isn't very expensive.

The above grill guard from a Jeep looks like a factory by the masses powder coat which is more like a paint job; corners cut for profit. Powder is extremely durable when the prep work is done right and a quality powder is being used.

I couldn't justify painting a 40k+ truck with anything out of a spray can but to each their own.

Do you have pictures of your bumpers you can post. I've spoke to a couple shops about powder coating my chrome bumpers but had not thought about painting over the red powder coat. Honestly the red powder coat nearly matched the truck already but was a couple shades off on the test piece one shop did for me.

How has the wrap held up thus far? Any fading, cracking, or peeling yet? Rock chips?

The wrap still looks great. No imperfections from what I can tell. I wouldn't hesitate to wrap the bumpers again.

I am thinking about getting my front bumper powder coated. I am worried it won't match though. My powder coating guy quoted me $250.

I had a paint shop quote me $500 to repaint the bumper, and it will definitely match.

Not sure what I want to do.

This is what I plan on doing as well, but can't find any pictures or anything. Did you end up going through with it?
