The various loads you have there are grounded to the battery, not the frame. Not all, but enough.

Ah, I haven't had my truck for about a year, but there were multiple connections to the battery ground.

On my car, there's a ground strap from the battery to the chassis, and that is the only connection to the battery ground.

Removing the ground removes the difference of potential. No difference in potential means no common term of electricity. Electrons need a reason to move. The alternator only replenishes electron it's the ground that gives the system a difference of potential aka electricity

I was just confused because I have taken the negative off plenty of running cars and the car doesn't shut off. Maybe something is different with the newer trucks, not sure

When I was in high school my buddies parents took the battery out of his car when his parents went on vacation with out him. So we would jump it off my car and he would leave it running all day long.

When I pulled the ground off on the battery. It was running by the command of the remote starter. They key was out and the ignition was in the off position.

Have same problem but when truck is running there is no power to any electrical circuits. Key doesn’t work to start or kill truck. Disconnecting th ground shut down engine but hooking ground back up doesn’t give you power.
