Looks good. I may do this. Does anyone have any other options? Is there any other threads on interior lighting?

It has both a 12V Cigarette adapter and 3 different size fuse taps to give it power. I chose the fuse tap route and tapped into a 2A fuse on the drivers side fuse panel. GM went to these narrower than mini fuses and there's only two 2a fuses that are the old style. It is hot all the time, even with the ignition off so I can turn them on when the truck is off if I want to. I just have to remember to turn them off.

Ewwww, forgetting could prove tragic......or costly huh.

If you T-tap into the yellow wire in the black box under the driver side dash then the lights will turn on with the dash lights so you don't have to remember to turn them off or on. Only thing is if you want to leave them on and kill the engine then you have to leave the radio running

So im loving this idea. Looks sick actually. I could see myself running the red lights, I think they'll look good with the cocoa dune color. Anyway, what would be the best way of wiring this set up if I wanted it to come on when i opened the doors, but also if i wanted to keep them on when riding down the road? Thanks man.

Since there's so many cool things you can do with LEDs nowadays, I thought I'd share my install of a OPT7 LED interior lighting kit. It's $45 on Amazon and comes with everything you need. It sure does look cool with any color you want, and you can tap into the dome light circuit so they come on white when you open the door. I haven't done that yet though to comment on it.

That's just the easiest and quickest way to get them powered up. You can find a power source that's hot when the ignition is on.

Wire the battery positive to an ignition source that's hot when the truck is on. There's a separate wire coming out of the box that you tap into a dome light circuit so the LEDs come on white when the door is opened (I haven't done this yet). Then you would just turn them on with the remote while driving.

You can do something like this but it ends up being more of a pain and probably more costly with buying RGB extensions between strips, etc. The OPT7 kit is complete and ready to install - no messing around with splices and stuff.

If you wire them to the dash lights then they'll come on when the door is opened at night or when the running lights are on (so basically whenever the truck senses it should be in night mode). So this will turn them on when the door is opened and while you are driving down the road [emoji106]
