Could gas cap be issue?? Last week went and got gas and then the truck sat for a week and just drove it other day and Engine light came on. Reset the light so it's off and drove it today and on dash it said "tighten gas cap".

P0449 V8 5.3

EVAP Vent Solenoid Control Circuit Fault The ECM detects the voltage on the EVAP canister vent valve control circuit is between 2.6-4.6 volts when the driver is commanded off,for more than 4 seconds

Probable Cause

1. Open or short circuit condition
2. Poor electrical connection
3. EVAP canister vent valve
4. ECM fault

Do you overfill or top off your tank when you put gas in? If you do STOP! This is a major cause of the evap solenoid failing. I was guilty of this on my 2008 and had this issue. I replaced my evap solenoid, stopped overfilling and no more problems. Just remember to stop topping off, rounding up and stop filling when the nozzle clicks off.

evap solenoid Question.....I got the damn code p0449

So I took I look and noticed that the solenoid "rattles" when I Shake it.. Is this normal or could something come loose internally causing the code

I wouldn't think so.

Bench test it with 12VDC and see if it's working.

Got the same code on my truck last week when I was returning from Canada, I got the code cleared and drove 500 miles home with no light, started the truck the next day and the light came on. I had a spare gas cap so I tried that but the light came back on after clearing the code. Went to the dealer and got a replacement solenoid # 25932571 for about $25 took less than 30 minutes to install.

Yeah this will be the second one.....just was wondering if it supposed to rattle in inside. Like something broke off in side.

I'd recommend going with the updated solenoid if you drive on much dirt. I located the intake under the hood.

I just replaced mine with the same one as you have there. I relocated it to a better spot as some of the extended cabs have it in the stupidest location possible.
