So my ac quit blowing cold when I started it up sunday morning.

All fuses seem good, the compressor engages , the fans work but do not come on with the ac and don't switch to high speed no high speed even after idling in the garage for 40 minutes. Driving down the road at 45mph I thought might help since the fan won't run on high, but that did not help.

I'm not sure if I'm still in warranty or not at 36,xxx miles purchased the truck in March 2014 at ron craft in Alvin

Not sure what else to check.

dropped it off at the dealership this morning, 300 miles out of warranty and they did not give a ****.

i owe at minimum 140 for them to diagnose, depending on what it is and how much i'll decide to do it myself or let them.

had to get my own rental car through enterprise, a GD Sonic.

moral of the story, never buy the first year of a new model without extended warranty i guess.

so it was the compressor hose that broke. they are replacing it and adding the extra support bracket. GM decided to partially cover it, since i was 400 miles past warranty. i still have to pay 100 bucks to get it fixed

Glad they helped you with the price being it's out of warranty. Do you know where it broke at and what they did to fix it? That way people that read this can put extra support on theirs to prevent this same issue. Maybe post a pic of the new bracket.

Mine also quit this week. I have an appointment on Friday to get it looked at. Oh and of course I am about 1000 miles past 36k.

Isn't it curious how they timed those failures to occur just after the expiration of the basic warranty?

I have a 2014 Silverado with the 4.3 engine build date 2/2014. The same issue happened to this truck, the compressor line cracked with 7500 miles. They replaced the hose and installed a support bracket. The part number for the bracket on the invoice is 23264893. It was installed per document ID: 3996395.

You should not have to pay for this. There was a design flaw in the way the hose connected to the compressor. Mine broke twice before they added the bracket. I'd call gm customer service and/or your dealer and request a refund.

Well, got it fixed today. They replaced the hose on the compessor. Doesn't look like they did the bracket. So I can probably expect it to go out again. But on the plus side they were nice enough to fix it under warranty even though I was about 1000 miles over. Can't seem to add a picture or I would post the receipt.

This is one thing that bothers me about GM. Rather than bring it in and install the .49 cent bracket and make you happy because you think they are taking care of you, they would rather get the couple hundred dollars from you because it is out of warranty. It would be something else if they didn't know about it but they obviously do and don't care about us at all. With the amount of freon that could be potentially lost to the atmosphere you would think the EPA would be pushing them to fix it before it's too late.

Along the same vein, my '15 has the same loose seat syndrome that the '14s have. My service advisor says GM thinks it's cheaper to fix the few that get reported (all of them have it) than it would be to re-engineer it or fix them all before they leave the plant. .
