DIC Speed Limit Info page

Hey guys - was scrolling through settings today and turned not he speed limit info page. I have not yet taken it out to try it since I changed the setting, but what I thought was interesting is that on the info page it shows the white speed limit sign with km/h underneath. I know my settings are in US measurements and I double checked. Is this just the way it is, or should i expect that when I actually drive the truck it will change to mi/h? Thanks!

It gets it's info from the nav database. I'd expect it to change to the correct units when driven on a road for which the nav database has speed limit information.

 

Pretty sure mine displays the speed limit using whatever units I have selected in the dic.

 

(I still think in miles per gallon rather than L/100km, so I change it back and forth to suit my mood)

Anybody know how the implement this feature - it's crazy accurate. I'm talking about watching the speed limit change as you pass a speed limit sign. It's within feet of the sign. I'm just wondering how this info is encoded in the nav database. Anybody know?

I have a 2015 Sierra SLT with navigation, and I don't see a setting for speed limits. Is this a feature not available on my truck, or could it be that I need an upgrade to the software. I bought the truck a few weeks ago, but it was built 10/14. I drove it to a dealer an hour and a half from me this morning to get the headlights upgraded according to the TSB. I wish I had checked on other software upgrades before I made the trip.

You probably need to go under settings to add on that page to the DIC and also yes it pretty accurate I personally don't use it lol but it there cases u might not know the speed limit in a unknown area

I can't find anything in the settings that would allow me to do that. But my wife says I'm not very good at finding things. Any help in that direction would be appreciated.

Gusing the steering wheel controls on the right - go to settings, then info pages. There should be 12 total pages you can activate. Activate the one for speed limit. Hope that helps.

Thanks, toro....I found it after figuring out what Gmcant33 was referring to. I was looking in the settings on the Intelilink screen. It finally dawned on me when he mentioned DIC. I've had to Google a lot of abbreviations like DIC, BCM, etc.

Gusing the steering wheel controls on the right - go to settings, then info pages. There should be 12 total pages you can activate. Activate the one for speed limit. Hope that helps.

I know the Nav used to have a little speed limit sign on the screen that shows you that.....Have they basically moved that to the DIC ?

 

I thought on first glance a speed warning was just that....it would just let you know when you went over a certain speed.....sounds like it does much more ! ?

Looks like all that cool stuff would have been turned "on" by default....I was surprised at all that good stuff hiding too !

Please ignore the dirtyness! Eeek!. Love the speed feature and this theme. Sux to be doing 8 when the limit is 80 lol.

It gets speed limit info from the gps database -- but sometimes is wrong, or is off on the speed change location.

 

It's just a method to determine speed limit when you haven't seen a sign recently..

 

EDIT/CORRECTION: There is also on option that can be turned on to give a SPEED WARNING.

 

From manual:

 

Speed Warning : The Speed
Warning display allows the driver to set a speed that they do not want to exceed.
To set the Speed Warning, press p when Speed Warning is displayed, or press V on the main view to set the speed value. Press w or x to adjust the value. Press V to set the speed. Once the speed is set, this feature can be turned off by pressing V while viewing this page. If the selected speed limit is exceeded, a pop-up warning is
displayed with a chime."
(p, V, w and x are the 'arrow' symbols and check mark on the steering controls)

      Thanks; I looked there a few minutes, and I think I can find something. I really never looked there, as I thought it was stuff like PTO/aftermarket bodies/accessories like snow plows.

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
