Siri hands free?

Is there a way to initiate Siri with a button push somewhere? I like to use her to read my txt and or send a short one when necessary, but have to do it via the phone instead of a steering wheel button like the kenwood in my last vechicle would do. Seems any of the truck buttons just start the built in voice commands of the truck system.

Really liked my "old" Windows phone. Loved the ability to text with voice. Now I have an "up to date" Samsung Edge smartphone, and it turns out it's not so smart after all. Not capable of talking text. What a bunch of BS!!

On the 2015 trucks, you press and hold the talk button on the steering wheel. It you press and release, you get the IntelliLink voice prompt. If you press and hold, you get Siri.

I don't think it works on the 2014 trucks. You have to have the IO6 radio with the text feature built in that wasn't available until the 2015 MY.

If you plug the phone in to USB and have the Hey Siri function turned on, and have your WiFi setting on the phone set to " show notifications " all you have to do is say Hey Siri and it will mute your radio, turn down AC and sound will come through the speakers of the radio. I use it every time I drive and it works very well. I use the hey Siri to send texts and let the truck read them.

I'll have to try the hey Siri when I get my USB plugs fixed. Dealer waiting for parts. For a long time. Me thinks i have to stop by and see what's up.

I have a 2015 Silverado and can confidently say this is 100% accurate.
