2015 Sierra Paint Issues?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2015 Sierra and have only hand washed it once and the paint is SO easily scratched compared to other trucks I have owned (2012 and 2014 F150s). Anyone else notice the paint chips and scratches super easy?

Anyone an expert on fixing a scratch?

yup, the paint sucks!

I just washed and gave it the first waxing. After getting up close and personal with the paint, there are DOZENS of spots where there is like little 'rocks' or other particles dried into the paint! Ive never seen such a poor excuse for a paint job. How disappointing. I traded in my 2014 FX4 ecoboost for the GMC, thought id try something different. I like the GM overall, but man this paint is pathetic on a 53k truck!

Agreed! all I've ever owned was GMC and Chevy trucks s and I have never had an issue with the paint before. Even my wife's 2013 Tahoe s paint was fine, so I never thought of the paint being an issue on a 2015.

I have noticed that the paint on my 2014 Silverado seems to chip pretty easy. I already have more chips in the paint on this truck than my '99 I had before it. Not real sure what can be done about it. You know the dealer is just going to say that is normal.

I've used the GM touchup paint pen and it does reasonably well as a fix, but by no means perfect. In 8k miles I've touched up a few while the dealer's done a few as well. Clear coat applicator dries extremely fast so you have to be quick or else is just looks like glue stuck to the struck.

"Like a rock chip."

The paint appears very thin on my 2015 Silverado 1500. Chips easily which is bad news on Texas roads. It's a crew cab manufactured in Mexico.
