Express Up/Down Windows

My 14 All Terrain has express down on all 4 and express up only on the drivers window......it's so dumb....why not make it on all 4 ??

If im not mistaken, the auto window up function on the passenger windows is frowned upon by most auto manufacturers due to the possibility that someone might get their hands or fingers pinched if they werent paying attention to the drivers actions. Its the same reason you can roll down your windows via remote, but cant roll them up in the same fashion, just in case there are children or unassuming people in the vehicle. That said, the DEI modules i spoke of earlier WILL do these functions. Also, I have a background in the auto electronics industry, and ill be the first to tell you that if you are considering these modules, i HIGHLY recommend having a professional do the install. They can be a real b!+c# to install on some vehicles. Some even require running up to 12 new wires into the drivers door thru the stock door boot. I cant confirm that this is the case on or trucks specificly as i haven't installed any on these yet. And even after fighting with running all of the wires, then theres the integration with the oem security system, which can be a bit risky, as the bcm is very fragile when it comes to current draw, etc. So while the part is relatively cheap, the labor will cost you, but well worth it to pay a pro here. I use to dread installing these when i was in this line of work.

That's good info...I wasn't aware of that ..... I guess I got used to those features having a few Lexus's that did the express auto up & up / down via remote etc .....but what you said makes sense

All luxury brands and most non-luxury higher-end cars have the auto up feature on all windows. The Yukon and Escalade (don't know about Tahoe) have auto up on the passenger windows since introduction in 2014. There is an anti-pinch feature (even on ours) that will reverse the window if something blocks the window from closing. The only reason our trucks don't have them on all windows is that GM was being cheap.

Another difference that I noticed between the yukon Denali and the Sierra Denali was in the crash avoidance system. I was doing an accelerated pass on the freeway, threading the needle or splitting the seam...whatever they call it...point being I was just trying to get out of slow traffic. Upon the acceleration, I got a little close to the car in front of me that I was overtaking. The yukon thought I was going to rear end the vehicle and either retarded the engine or engaged the brakes slighly. I've never felt anything like it! I've done the same move in my Sierra Denali and all I get is the red dot-lights in the windshield and seat vibration (I think).

 

Crazy how many differences there are in the two rigs. Hell, the stock exhaust even sounds beefier in the Yukon opposed to the Sierra. I guess if I plopped down an extra $15k and had a few kids to haul around, I wouldn't be complaining.

I don't have any proof but I am pretty sure the reason there is no auto up feature and other stuff missing from our trucks has nothing to do with auto manufacturers not liking auto up or safety. As already suggested I just think gm is cheap, kind of like how they took the light from under the hood and the footwell lights away from the 02 Sierra Denali vs 04 SD. Plenty of gm cars have it and lots of others makes/models have it. My gf mentions it every time she rides in my truck, "damn gm and no auto up" Her 09 MDX has it my cts v had it the list goes on. GM has it for sure

 

One day gm will realize to some people a truck just isn't a "a pick up" and they want all the features available, especially on the "luxury trucks" My denali is my family wagon, won't be buying a SUV

you must have the only truck then haha. I tried while on my way to work on my 15 Denali, just express up on the driver. Pretty sure it says it on the sticker also

Nope. Only driver's goes auto up. TxChevy must be mistaken, or has a moded truck.
