2014 Coolant Flush

Recommended Posts

So a month or so back I had my truck in for a suspected coolant leak. The coolant level was below the fill cold mark (see picture). Long story short the dealer didn't find a leak but they did pour that UV dye into the tank.

Few thousand miles later the coolant hasn't gotten any lower. I'm about to change my oil soon and I figured I probably should flush the coolant to remove the dye.

Anyway I haven't been successful in finding any pictures of where to drain from. Anyone have the procedure for draining the 14s?

If I don't drain it, does the dye cause any harmful long term affects?

Yeah if they didn't find a leak then I wouldn't worry.. the dye is safe. And I'm not 100% sure but these coolants last for a long time..

Brining this up back to the top... anybody smell coolant from there front grill? I just smelt this smell and opened the hood and very small leak somewhere on my radiator on the drivers side...

Read several threads about the tabs at the top of the radiator on each side cracking. It has not happened to me yet, so I don't have any first hand knowledge to share with you. Take it to the dealer.

There's a tab on it. But it's a "hidden" tsb, there's an updated radiator and thermostat. The factory one cycles too much and causes the side ranks to crack away from the core.

I took my truck in for service not to long ago. I could smell coolant when walking around the front of the vehicle. I didn't notice any leaks or drop in coolant level. They told me about the tsb Victory mentioned. They replaced the radiator and thermostat. Haven't smelled coolant since.

My truck goes in on Tuesday for headliner replacement... I'm most definitely showing them the radiator
