I got the Undercover Flex this past Saturday and I couldn't be more happy with it. Keeps water out, looks great, and only took 10 minutes to install. Tell me what you think!

I saw one of those for the first time last week and was really impressed. It was on a buddy's long bed F150 that he works out of. I don't need one for my personal truck but for my work truck it would work out better than a toolbox alone.

What's the difference between this and the BakFlip? It looks exactly the same.

They have differences, I don't think the bak versions have that extra narrow panel near the cab for one. Different panel materials, different locking mechanisms.

I almost bought one, but after going back/forth over it for a while in terms of getting a "full access" hard folding cover that can get flipped up to the cab I came to the realization: a) they leak, no matter what, and will probably freeze to the tailgate in the winter, b) start googling reviews and there's ALOT of negative ones, c) I don't want a cover that has additional side rails narrowing the bed from side to side and also running the risk of damaging the rails and/or the locking fasteners that they have w/ whatever cargo I have in the bed - this would be inevitable IMO. and lastly d) it may seem like nothing to most people, but having to open the top panel EVERY time I want to close my tailgate would result in cursing @ some point in time - I can guarantee that lol.

Also - they are way too much $$$ and they ALL seem flimsy in person (bak, truxedo, undercover, gator, etc.)

I ended up going w/ the a more traditional hard folding vinyl covered tonneau that doesn't do the "cab flip up" but can be remove fairly easily nonetheless. Cheaper too - torzo advantage hard hat brand.

No knock on the OP though, I know people who are happy w/ them as well, and it seems like the undercover version gets better reviews than the Bak and gator ones.

All depends on what your needs and budget are.

The Bak versions DO have the extra narrow section at the front...but one big difference is that the BAK models fold against the back of the cab when fully opened, where the Undercover version does not touch the cab when fully opened. Some folks don't like either one obstructing the view out of the back window. This doesn't bother me because if I have it open all of the way, the cargo is probably obstructing the view anyway - it also protects the glass from the cargo. And as far as touching the cab...the BAK has cushions built in, so I've never had any issues with this either. By the way, most of the time I don't have to open it all of the way. There are some tie downs attached that allow its use when ¾ opened (last panel still latched and securely tied downs).

One thing I do like better about the Undercover model is the way the front bolts are hidden. On my BAK models, the front bolt tops are exposed where they are hidden on the Undercover. This is a more finished look.

I've had two BAK models on two different trucks, in case you're wondering...

I agree with you when you say these all cost way too much. I wouldn't have paid full price for one, but I found this one of craigslist for $300 and bought it for $250. The guy had it on his truck for less than a year and traded in his double cab for a crew cab, so the cover was too big for the short bed.

I love my Undercover Flex - I got it for $699 delivered but I had to do some trimming of the bed liner so it would fit and didn't trust myself to do it so I paid a local shop $100 to install it...most people pay over $800 for the cover itself so I still think I got a pretty good deal.

I have been looking for weeks and cant decide between the Undercover Flex, a Bakflip. or just going with a solid top like the Undercover SE or Undercover Elite. I think ive decided, then I run across a bad review and im back to square one.

I like the tri-fold idea, but I feel like 1-2 years and they start leaking is pathetic for a $700-800 investment, which has me leaning to a solid top. Hard finding pictures on the SE and Elite on a 2015.

Well I can tell you this, they all seem to have mixed reviews and small issues, but I can tell you first hand, Undercover has OUTSTANDING customer service!... I just noticed the other day that my undercover flex had small pieces of paint chipping away from the top side of the cover. The covers about a year old, so I emailed undercover a few pictures of the issue and they responded right away. they are sending me a brand new cover in the mail, no questions asked. Even tho i had an issue with the cover, if the company is willing to stand behind it like that then I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again... And I never have had any water leaking issues.

This is the cover I really want for a tri fold. Might bite the bullet and order one.

Go for it man. I love the cover and wouldn't have it any other way. The ease in which it opens and can ride in a couple different positions with it open is nice. It's low profile and looks classy IMO. I've had different soft vinyl covers , roll ups and the ones that snap- total pain in the ass, no comparison to the trifold cover.

Mine is doing the same, the cover is about 19 months old, so I'm going to shoot them an email too.....good to know.

Side note - one product I do own from undercover is their swingcase toolbox and I really like it. Only thing I did to "modify" the design is I tossed the self tapping screws that came w/ it and opted to use stainless bolts/nuts/washers to hold it because going offroad or bumpy roads or just using it over time and keeping 30 lbs +/- minimum of gear in it I could see those eventually failing. Other than that its a great little toolbox takes up very little space and can remove it in 2.3 seconds w/ ease.

The Truck Gear by LINE-X folding cover is made by Bak (mostly like the Bakflip Fibermax), but has some features of the Undercover Flex (hinges). Keep in mind that Undercover and Bak Industries have the same parent company. The best part is the warranty which is a lifetime warranty which you can't get with a Bak or Undercover cover.

Go here and look for FRP Hard Folding Tonneau: http://truckgear.com/lookup.html?search=tonno
