Diablo vs. Blackbear?

So you are using the first Intune not the Intune2? I've read that the I2 has a faster processor, etc...but the instructions could still be an issue i guess. This is why I've been asking around, I don't want to get hung up with problems. I just want to download the tune and go...black bear seems to be getting the better reputation so far, although more expensive, but i guess you get what pay for.....even though the Diablo is cheaper but still expensive

I think Rob is using the i2, and what he was voicing were his issues with it. I will see tomorrow if I have some of the issues that he does. The i1000 worked great for me, so I don't anticipate a lot of surprises. Rob, I suggest that you hit the Diablo forum if you already haven't. Appreciate your input.

I'm curious Rob, what you see as a good alternative?

Did you try the Diablo forum? I am just getting ready to hook mine up, what specifically was your problem? I'll just send this back if there is a major problem.

I've never had a diablo or blackbear so I haven't really dealt with their customer services. I did PM Jennabear about buying an autocal and she responded within five hours. I also see that the Diablo forum is pretty active. But choosing either one because of phone support will not help the OP. This is from the Blackbear website...

CALL US: 877-809-4070 for sales support and general questions. Technical questions, build support, etc. cannot be answered over the phone at this time.

Our phone line is regularly available Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday 10am - 3pm PST. We are a very small company and must allocate specific blocks of time just for tuning purposes where a constantly ringing phone will be disruptive and detrimental to our final product.

Due to the nature of software support, we will not be able to provide any AutoCal or Scan Cable configuration/setup instruction over the phone. For those in need of that assistance, please contact us by email or by using the form below to schedule a time so that we may be able to connect to your computer.

Note: We only have one phone line and it will only ring on our end during the times listed above. If you call during support hours and do not get through, please try again at a later time or send us a message using the form below.

I see what you are trying to say but Jenna has explained this in another thread. Black Bear by all accounts is a very small business, I think at most 3-4 people work there. They do not have the man power to constantly fill phone calls from across the US. Contacting them via email is much easier for them to handle and they are quick to respond throughout the week.

Diablo in the other hand is a large Business and probably employs at least 20x, as many people as Black Bear does. They have vastly more resources available to them so its understood when their customer service line offers poor support.

As far as the AutoCal its pretty easy, if you know how to plug your phone to your computer for an update its pretty much the same. Download and instal the free version of EFI Live software. Connect AutoCal, update files on AutoCal, and you are ready to log a run from your vehicle.

So how did your tune go with the i2?

So how did your tune go with the i2?

Sorry, just got home. It worked fine, I don't see what the problems are. It didn't need an update out of the box, I turned off the DOD, and loaded the 87 tune with firm shifts. Nothing more than that and it worked as expected. The truck drives much better. It is much faster than the previous iTunes unit. Very happy. I didn't do much initially, I wanted to see if the basic settings helped the transmission shifting problems, and it did. I'll report more later as I get into some of the more custom settings.

    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
