Ridiculous newb question

So, this is my first truck. I had an Expedition a while back, but that doesn't count.

I play drums in a band about 3 nights a week on average and have about 500 pounds of gear that's a pain to load and unload on a regular basis and I'm curious if there's any reason I can't just leave that amount of gear in the bed on a semi-permanent basis without stressing the suspension, etc. etc.

Nah, won't really stress the suspension... but it will cost you extra Gas to haul it around all the time.

I've got at least that amount in my toolbox at all times. You'll be fine.

Are you able to lock up your equipment? I imagine replacing it would cost a pretty penny.... Hopefully thieves don't catch wind of your on board equipment.

I would get a good tri fold bed cover to protect your belongings. 500 pounds won't hurt the truck at all, between crap in my backseat plus me is 500 pounds lol

Thanks guys! I have a Leer topper that locks, so I'm kinda okay with the security aspect. Was mainly hoping I wasn't adding too much wear and tear to the suspension.

It'll be fine, I have a bunch of stuff in my truck toolbox. Your gas milage may take a little hot though

I'd double limo-tint the windows on the Leer Topper so no-one could peek inside, but I'm a little paranoid after having 2 trucks stolen

I had PA equipment stolen out of a similar truck/topper setup so make sure it is parked in a safe spot if you leave the stuff in it.

If your truck has a factory theft alarm you can add a switch to the tailgate handle so it will sound if someone tries to open it.

No it will not "harm" your suspension but it will make the springs wear out a hair faster over time. but that comes with the territory of putting any loads in the bed of a truck. so i would not worry about it.

However, i would def not leave your expensive equipment in the bed of your truck, no matter how "safe" the area is. It only takes one person to make you highly regret your decision to leave your equipment in the bed of your truck. But if you do, just make sure you insurance policy covers that.

It can only help make the truck ride better. Every truck in the snow belt has at least 500lbs of sand in the bed for snow.

It won't do any harm to the suspension
