i thought the painted and polished wheels have a clear coat on them?? so there should be no need to polish them like the old school wheels.

Painted for sure, polished not so sure, and even so - clear coat can wear through w/ salt/chemicals and especially using the "wrong" type of wheel cleaner

Chrome wheels look great until you start using them- tough to keep looking good over the years as any chips will cause the chrome plating to begin pitting and peeling- and you can end up losing the bead and have continuos slow leaks.

While this is true, it also depends on the quality of the wheels. I used to put custom wheels on cars as my job in college and I would see cheap chrome wheels fail to hold air around the bead in as soon a year. That is why if you go chrome, spend the extra money on good ones. Nothing worse than having to grind down that corrosion build up/etc and having to cover the bead and wheel with bead seal just for the wheel to go back to the same problem a few months later.

True. That is why i have said the polished denali wheels always look dull and dirty to me. Have yet to see any polished denali wheel that shines in person. Maybe they had a piss poor polishing job done before clear?

Had some chrome cheap brand 26s for 5 years. As long as you wash your car once a week they will shine and look new for many years. As mentioned, just a wet rag or towel and 5 minutes on each rim does the job. No fancy cleaners.

Now have the polished 20s on my Sierra and factory 20s on a 2016 Impala I just bought for my wife. Cant go wrong with either.
