That would work on the previous generation sierra but I kind of doubt it is the exact same on a k2.

It was an option on my truck I could've cared less about when I bought it. Now that it's been cold outside I love it! Just wish the seats heated up half as quick as the wheel.

I actually think you can add it, but it's not easy. It's not a BCM controlled function, similar to the sunroof and rear sliding window.

Someone on here was doing it. I'll post the link if I can find it.

I've said many times that I'd rather have the heated steering wheels vs the heated seats if I had to choose. However, having both is quite excellent on cold mornings. Remote start helps, too!

I just swapped the steering wheel in my 2015 Silverado LT for the 2015 Silverado LTZ heated steering wheel. This was a direct swap and did not require reprograming of the BCM. This swap was super easy and only took 3 hours!!

I initially talked to the dealership and they told me it was not possible to do... Then I found the following forum articles and figured I would try the swap myself:

The only items I bought were:

1. LTZ steering wheel ($223) ---- Part # 23278626

2. LTZ Clockspring (SIR Coil) ($140) ------ Part #23193462

The heat comes on only when I push the heat button. It goes off when I again press the heat button or I turn the vehicle off. This swap was easy and well worth the money!

I drove a Denali with the heated wheel and honestly, I was disappointed that it only heats the top and bottom portions, and not the "sides" of the wheel which I actually hold while driving. But still, if you live in a cold area, it is something worth having. I just wish it worked "properly".

That's funny you say that, mine doesn't heat the top and bottom very much. The sides however do heat up quite a bit. GM's fine engineering?

Wow, really? It appears that this might be a case of GM's fine engineering. I'd say the truck I drove as a 2015, but that shouldn't make any difference, at least in my mind.

That always bugged me about mine to be honest. I drive with one hand usually, and it's right in the top where it's the coldest. But when I drive with two hands, the sides are so warm! I guess I didn't really find it odd though because you're technically supposed to put both of your hands on the sides right?

Technically yes! But on my dad's E Class, for example, it's done right. 100% of the wheel is heated. And honestly, considering it is an optional feature we're talking about, that's the way it should be...

Couldn't agree any more, the entire thing should be heated cause we don't all drive at 10 and 2 or vice versa. ?️
