HD Radio on 2015's

Does anybody know if the 2015's have HD radio. Everything in the brochures, window sticker, and owners manual talks about them having it but I can't seem to get mine to recognize any HD stations. I know the 2014's had it but I heard rumors that GM pulled it from the 2015's.

Changes made for 2015

  • (IO5, IO6) 8 inch radios now available on SLE Regular Cab models (replacing IO3 & IO4)
  • (UVC) Rear Camera now included with (PDD) Sierra Convenience Package on 1SA Sierra model
  • (VLQ) Chrome Tow Hooks become factory installed option
  • HD radio feature removed from all radios
  • Hill Start Assist hold time increased to 3 seconds (from 1.5 seconds)
  • (L86) 6.2L V8 to become available in early Q4 (not available at start of 2015 MY production)
  • E85 capability on 4.3L (LV3) engine or 5.3L (L83) engine with RPO (FHS)
  • (GAN) Quicksilver Metallic no longer available on All Terrain
  • (GAZ) Summit White no longer available on Sierra 1500 All Terrain

And to further confuse things, HD radio is back for 2016 (on the IO5 and IO6 audio systems)

If they removed it they should have updated all the marketing information. It's not a deal-breaker but it was one of the reasons I bought the truck  ...

I'm thinking if it was on the window sticker on YOUR TRUCK, then the dealer needs to make it right.

The brochures have the 'weasel words' about being able to change specs/content anytime.

(and there are changes in the order guide nearly every week)

funny-just looked at my sticker for my 2015 and it doesn't even mention AM/FM radio. Talks about the Bose sound system, Sirius/XM, and On Star, but no mention of regular old radio.

But I do agree if it said on your sticker it has it, they should remedy it.

Ya don't worry my hd drops out all over, so annoying, been in and in, service manager is on it, but were at a wall, the answer as if now is shut it off, lol gotta love it, another customer of his is using it as some amo on a 2500 denali buyback, not worth that for me lol I always figure it's there way to get u to by xm

This is a huge point of contention with me and the 2015 I bought... So pissed and GM didn't do shit for me, told me to talk to the dealer... But the dealer didn't put the window sticker on the truck!

Yep -- it's still listed on all the GM marketing materials (both Chevy and GMC) for the radio that came with my truck.

I have an aftermarket single-DIN Jensen with HD radio in my 1994 Silverado and love it. I wanted HD on my new truck and that's actually the reason I researched it before I bought the truck. HD has the best sound, followed by regular FM, then the crappy compressed sound of XM.

I am not having any luck with the dealer I bought the truck from. There are a few dealers closer to my house that I am going to try next. Hopefully there is just a software update that will take care of it.

Go look at the radio reception thread guys...no, the 2016 radio will not work in the 2014/2015 trucks. Of course it is different. Also, there is a current PI that addresses some of the issues, but not all. Depending upon the build date and actual radio hardware and software, the PI calls for either software, hardware or both to be updated. My radio hardware and software were both replaced and it is much better. But there have been mixed reviews - some improved, but others did not.

One of our members, TJAY, is working with the engineers to fix the reception issue. Will it provide HD to your radio if it didn't come with it? Nope.

I feel your pain on "running changes" as they call them. I have an early build 2014 Silverado LTZ and love the truck. But my radio knobs did not illuminate like the brochures and the GMC trucks do. I also have a few buttons that don't look like the brochure. I was able to get the radio knob illumination fixed and after that GM told the dealers they couldn't fix them because it was a "running change" that they intended. It doesn't sound like a lot, but drive around at night with half of the dash lights off. I hate it when they do this crap. And yes, the radio is my biggest gripe. My 2011 non Bose sounded better than this one and I never lost a station...the same stations I lose in my 2014 with Bose...

My 2011 was a non-Bose and the station in my city came in crystal clear... I'm always shocked when that station drops on my 2015 Bose setup IN TOWN.
