Haven't been here in a long long time (apparently since 2002), my username used to be ryr8828. I wasn't sure of my username or password so I re-registered. Found my old username by doing a member search. I like this new name better anyway.

 

I registered here originally when I bought my 2002 blue 4x4 Avalanche, which I replaced with a 2008 blue LTZ Z71 crew cab 4x4, which I replaced with a 2013 green crew cab LTZ 4x4, which I replaced with a black 2015 Colorado crew cab z71 back in February.

 

I traded the colorado yesterday for a new 2015 double cab 4x4 z71 silverado 1500 with 5.3 and 3.42 gears in rainforest green. The colorado experiment was a mistake. When you make mistakes in life you either live with them or rectify them, I decided to fix mine.

 

Got tired of ducking to get in and out of the colorado, a few times I forgot and hit my head.

Better gas mileage but not so much better that it makes a difference to me. When towing my travel trailer mileage went down to 9 mpg.

Also I bought a new travel trailer that's bigger than my former one and at 5500 pounds I thought the colorado was at it's limit. It pulled it ok but I wanted more power and more safety factor.

 

Also my 100 pound yellow lab was kind of cramped in the back seat when we go on camping trips. If hauling my golf clubs and push cart to the golf course was all I was doing I probably would have kept the colorado even though I learned to hate the black paint.

 

I'll be 59 in a few months, am a gun enthusiast, a golf enthusiast, and like to go camping.

I retired 3 years ago from my trade as a pipe insulator but I still take on seasonal work. The union calls me when they don't have enough active members to man the work and I'll go out on the job for a few months to make some extra money. I've been working at the Wood River, IL refinery since October and still have a few weeks left there before I go back to taking it easy again.

 

I just realized I've typed a novel, so I'll stop it here.

Welcome back Mike, sorry the Colorado didn't work out, but you sure fixed the problem quickly.

My anticipated layoff date is December 11, I'm looking forward to it so I can bring my travel trailer home and pull it in with my new silverado.

I have it parked at a mobile home court not far from the refinery and have been living in it while I'm working up there.

I'm looking forward to taking pics of it and my new truck together when I get back up there tomorrow afternoon so I can post them here.

Welcome back Mike, sorry the Colorado didn't work out, but you sure fixed the problem quickly.

I knew I was going to take a hit but the dealer was very good to me. I was very happy with the trade and am very happy to be back in a silverado.

Now I'm on to using the search function for pics and reviews of caps and running boards. I think I've decided on an ARE Z cap, I had an ARE on my colorado and it was ok.

 

Also going to add a bed rug, had one in the colorado and loved it.

 

And possibly replace the mirrors with towing mirrors so I don't have to keep clamping on the removable ones.

 

I think I'll make myself a breakfast White Russian and start reading the site's content.

      Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.

      That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.

If their vehicles can save 1–2% fuel by using a special fuel economy lubricant, then that OEM can drastically reduce the amount of fines they need to pay.”   I liked this and the following paragraph as well but it’s really only touching the beginning of the benefits OEMs see from spec’ing these oils. After you factor in “out of warranty” service work and new car sales when these engines fail before their time, it’s a good racket for them. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
