Jasonsupafly Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hello all. It's been a while. Hope all is good with everyone. 2001 Silverado Extended Cab Z71 5.3. Torsion keys cranked many years ago to level the truck. I have 203,000 miles on the original shocks and are wanting to finally replace 'em. I'm sure this has been discussed many times, I am looking for peoples experiences with brands, likes and dislikes of any aftermarket shocks that have been used. Best place to purchase shocks. Thanks in advance.
Sirstud1 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Rockauto has different brands.. Gabreil is a good brand
Bikemobile Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I just put KYB monomax's on my crewcab. A bit stiff but great off road and over big bumps. I just put KYB monomax's on my 07 classic crewcab. A bit stiff but great off road and over big bumps.
muddkatt Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I run Bilsteins on my 01. Rockauto has them for about 80 bucks each. They have been on for about 150,000 miles and are holding up very well. They did make the truck ride a little rougher than the stock shocks.
kstruckcountry Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Very happy with my 'Steens Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
GasJobMafia Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 don't cheap out, buy the bilstiens! I got 5100s with the extra 2" in the front for the big keys and they made a ridiculous amount of difference, bit over kill but they haul ass on the dirt and seem to handle the dreaded cranked torsion keys and what not
Bad Bowtie2 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Bilstien light duty shocks, unless you do a lot of towing.
Jasonsupafly Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Thanks. Ill probably go with the 5100's.
NEFisher11 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I put bilstein 4600 on my truck. Love much better ride.

Jasonsupafly Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Why the 4600's over the 5100's?
onecrazyfoo4u Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 What about the rough country leveling kit that comes with shocks/struts. Are the shocks/struts that come with the kit good? http://www.roughcountry.com/gm-leveling-lift-kit-283n2.html
unit731 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Why the 4600's over the 5100's? Personal preference. I just don't want anything with a 'boot'.
