2015 silverado black out remote door lock/start install question

having trouble finding a answer, so i'll post the question here, do I need to install the new hood latch and wiring to program the GM remote door/start ????? the green wire is supposed to plug into the K9 BCM X4 pin 24, there is already a wire there, is this just a safety issue to keep the remote start from working when the hood is ajar, or will the BCM see the hood latch switch and also know its not there if I do the BCM update without the hood latch ???

Using J-38125-22 tool, remove any wiring in K9 BCM X4 26-way connector pin 24 (BN/L-GN) and tape back onto the body harness, if applicable. Insert the GN (green) jumper harness signal wire connector into pin 24 on the K9 BCM X4 26-way connector. Refer to K9 Body Control Module X4. Reinstall all connectors.

 

The hood latch for remote start trucks is different than the latch for non remote start trucks. The wiring and hood latch are necessary for light duty trucks.

didn't have soo much luck today, after getting everything lined up, the code entered with GM, we could see the updates on the tech 2, but it couldn't find or read the BCU, so maybe monday well have better luck,

you cant use a tech 2 to program your truck. haft to use a gm mdi or similar product.

is this a 14/14/16 problem, we have done several remote door lock/remote start upgrades on 10-13 models using TIS,and tech 2 pass though, GM knew we were using the tech 2 to do this update,

I don't see it as a 14/15/16 problem. These trucks don't use the tech 2 for anything. Not sayin' you couldn't hook it up and some data from some module, but it is not supported in anyway.

success today, we had to update our GM diagnostic system today, and were able to reprogram the ECU with the latest updates, update and reprogram the TPMS module, update the BCU and reprogram it, and program the new remotes to lock, unlock and remote start !!!! we have all systems go !!!!!

Once installed did you contact Onstar? Another forum is reporting Onstar will activate the remote start. I ordered mine today.
