Did you try looking at the GMC website? Shows a 100 lb difference between the two. CC SB 4x4 (since it seems that is what everyone gets these days) shows 9100 for Denali with 6.2 and 3.23 and 9200 for SLT same set up... Payload is 50 lbs more in the SLT at 1740 vs 1690

Based on what I've seen, I would concur that in the real world that is about right.

I'm looking for standard bed but no one has them in a 6.2 around here.

It's worth ordering from a dealer and waiting 4-6 weeks for a standard bed.

Crew cab short beds are absolutely hideous looking, and you can't fit crap in them. It's all cab and hardly any truck.

*I know my personal opinion is unpopular, and sales figures probably show a whole lot more short beds than standard beds out there. They are still terrible.

Check with your dealer about ordering.

My dealer has says the way I spec a truck is easy for them to sell or trade if I don't want it, so they will order they way I want it without and signed or financial commitment.

We have ordered the last 2 trucks this way, and have been able to come to a deal after they arrived.

The 2 before that were purchased from dealer inventory or that they were able to get from another dealers inventory.

I am having trouble finding the towing capacity specs between a 6.2 denali and a 6.2 slt. Any thoughts? Neither in max tow.

6.2 K15743 - 9100lbs (and with max tow/3.42's it would be 11,700)

Denali shows the same (but there is not max tow on a 1500 denali)

(both show the same trailering capacity for the 5.3/8spd and the 6.2/8spd)

The best I can get them to tell me is that a standard box is not that desirable and they want some sort of commitment from me.

If you know what truck you want, they can calculate pricing and you can negotiate/sign the contract before it is ordered.

Haha yup, because I can't fit anything in my short bed  That extra 9.4" of the regular bed make it go from useless car to macho truck! Looks are subjective, personally the extended cabs are the best looking, followed by the CC SB, the regular cab and finally CC LB (though lifted I like the CC LB over the CC SB). Still, there is no truth in the can't fit crap in the short bed, that 9 inches isn't any life saver. I came from a CC SB gen 1 Colorado and fit a crap ton of stuff in that. So this 5'8 bed is massive. Not to mention the best tool we have bought for any of our trucks is a bed extender, and the truck still fits in my garage with 4 inches to spare.

If I wasn't in to some off roading and had a bigger garage a CC LB might have been a possibility, but at near stock levels they look to unproportionally long IMO. Glad GM gave us the option though!

I had a 2004 1500 crew cab short box and I really hated it. Couldn't fit anything back there. Then I got a 2012 2500HD crew cab long box and it was awesome. Now I have a 2015 crew cab standard box and it works out nicely, though I sometimes wish I had the long bed.

I'm just not sure how you negotiate a good price on an ordered truck that you agree to take.

I don't know, I've never really negotiated. I ordered my truck with a GM employee discount so that was just the price I agreed to. For my wife's car, I walked in there with a TrueCar printout and said I will take this car for this price. Being a TrueCar dealer they had no choice but to accept the offer. I ended up with 19% off MSRP on my 2015 Denali and a whopping 25% off MSRP on the 2015 Malibu.

This seems like the best and only way to get a new truck. You go in there and say I'm looking to order a new truck and this is what I want to pay. Why wouldn't they sell it to you, it is a sold order even if they don't make as much money. These trucks are going to sell.

At least that is what I was told when I went into my local gmc dealer and said I want a new truck will you meet laura gmc prices. Went right to the new car manager.
