2016 Sierra SLT ordering question.

I was at my local dealership this weekend and they didn't have a 2016 pickup with the exact options I wanted and couldn't find one in my area to do a dealer trade. We have agreed on a trade-in price for my 07 but they were not able to give me a firm price on a truck if I ordered it. They said the final cost would depend on the rebates that are available at time of delivery which they said would be 8-10 weeks. I was surprised they couldn't give me a firm price is that typical? Anyone know what the rebates will be in 8-10 weeks?

I heard the same from several dealers. I ordered a '16 a few months ago, told the salesman what my budget was. It arrived and they wouldn't sell for the price we talked about. Fortunately I found a '15 that had what I wanted but it was 7+ hours away.

When I have special ordered in the past (6 times) they gave me the retail price, then told me how much dealer markdown they would provide. This gave me a bottom line that did not include any rebates. Once the car or truck came in they took that number and reduced it by all available rebates and incentives for a final price.

I have no idea who would leak out rebates that far in the future, so don't plan on any and then take whatever is available.

Thanks, how much are dealerships willing to drop under the $56,000 MSRP on an order like this without knowing what the rebates will be in 8 weeks? $1000-2000 or more?

normal... and the reason why I don't order trucks anymore. just wait a month and you will find what you need... likely before your special order would arrive anyway.

What's "normal"? I'm wondering how much dealers are willing to drop off of the 56K MSRP dollar wise if I do place an order.....before rebates?

Worst case agree upon GMS and all rebates and instintives at time of delivery, I assure they will go for that deal.

I am A-plan, the price was the price minus all rebates and incentives.

Its been 8 years sense I bought a new truck and I've never had to order one. I'm just wondering if I do order are the dealers are willing to come down off of the MSRP regardless of what rebates and if so how much $?

They should still want to deal because ultimately you could just leave the truck there then it becomes their problem.

I think the trade in is part of the reason they won't give you a price. They are covering their butts on that part of it. Just my .02 but something similar happened to me. Once I decided to sell my old truck myself, it became a little easier.

I would say work up a deal with a truck on a lot that has everything else you want and then just add the cost of the upgrades that you want and tell them when you order you wont pay any more then that plus you want the rebates that are available when the truck comes in. Stay strong and get them to commit. They want your business. From what I have been seeing lately there is no reason you cant get $8000 to $10,000 off of MSRP.
