The 22" Bridgestones I have are horrible in the snow in 2WD. Slip it into auto or 4wd and its fine. Considering a more aggressive tire to be honest just to get better traction. I'm sure with a little weight in the bed it would be different.

I put a couple of bags of sand in the back of mine. It served two purposes, providing weight and as an additional option to provide me with a base for traction if it was needed.

When you hit a drift you can get high centered. Less weight on the tires and the drift acts like a brake so once you spin the tires you are done. Depending upon the degree of high centered you are normally screwed and aggressive tires or chains won't help. I've busted a lot of drifts and on big ones it takes momentum to get you through. Or digging or a tow.....

That's why I recommend snows - the more snow, the better they are - act like suction cups effectively.
