4x4 randomly engaging while driving/parked?

Dealer called me to inform me of a recall, saying my truck needed to have the 4WD serviced. She said they have had them coming in left and right and that the 4WD will randomly engage while driving and while parked due to the cold weather, but the weather here in Arkansas really hasn't been that cold? Anyways they said all it is is a transfer case reprogram but I have not heard of this on hear and I have not had this problem. Has anyone heard of this? Seemed they were really eager to do the recall for some reason, weird considering I still have not been able to get them to address the headlight illumination issue.

This was Harry Robinson Buick GMC in Fort Smith Arkansas that called by the way.

There was a lot of discussion / complaint about the problem last winter. IIRC trucks run in 'auto fwd' can get stuck in 4wd if shut off in auto.

Anyway, the reprogram is the solution.

On the lights issue, do you know if when your truck as assembled (and if it was after the changeover date)? Maybe they are thinking it's new enough it was done at the factory or before delivery.

Yes, there is a TSB out on this. Had mine done. Doesn't take long.

Yes it is a known issue, takes 20 minutes to reprogram the TCCM. The lights are a known issue as well, I would get with the service manager. The update for the lighting requires new bulbs and a reprogram of the BCM to increase the voltage to the headlights.

Unless your truck was made after the change over, easy way to check is to pull one of the headlights. If it is the VOLSOM brand bulb I believe it is the new design bulb.

Just had mine done too. Not sure if this is correct or not but service guy said it was for the 4wd engaging in 4lo by itself if really cold and not disengaging.

I have a new 2015 and it did not come with the new bulbs. I kept mine from my 2014 though and put them in.

nope, bulbs are phillips brand. I replaced stock headlights with XD LED headlights but still not happy with them, I would like to still increase the voltage to them with the update to see if that would help.

Did you notice any difference on your 15?

I'd bet that the original supplier has retooled the build to have the same characteristics as the replacement used in the 'upgrade'.

Does anyone have the TSB number or information for this fix? I live in FL, but when I make random trips up north in the cold I don't need any surprises. Especially when I need it working. I had the Tcase reprogram recall done about 15months ago when I bought the truck. This sounds like a new TSB/Recall.
