Which Switch Activates The Amber Roof Marker Lamps?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2015 Sierra Denali 1500. I am already adding the power folding tow mirrors with amber running lights, and I want to add the factory amber roof marker lamps to my truck. I know it's going to be a few hundred dollars and drilling in to my roof, but I am ready for it.

I had a 2012 2500HD for a few months before I had to sell it and move overseas. I don't remember which switch activates the roof marker lamps.

Can someone tell me which switch does it? I would prefer to wire my lamps in to a factory switch if possible.

Can you take a picture of which switch it is?

Thanks.

Mine turn on when either the auto lights go on or when I manually turn the knob for the parking lights or headlights.

No separate switch or button.

They are tied in with the headlight switch. In PARK, ON and AUTO, any time either all the lights are on or if the park lights are on, the mirrors and roof markers are on.

Hopefully this is ok to post here and uncertain how much difference there is in the wiring inside the cab between a 1500 and a 2500/3500 trucks -

The 2015 cab lights on the HD trucks now require a square hole.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping that if I order the GM OEM lights, they will just work. I saw a harness on the parts diagram also so that might be what I need to make it OEM.

This photo was for double cab, but if you search under crew cab there is another harness.

I called and ordered mine yesterday. I have the crew cab 2500 and all the numbers match up except for the wiring harness. They gave me part #23303314. Is that incorrect?

You may be fine having a Denali, but just double check before doing any drilling, etc. My buddy has a 2015 Chevy 2500 and wanted to add the amber running lights. His truck does not have a plug and play harness in the ceiling near the garage door openers. The dealer looked up his vin and told him that he would have to pull the ceiling and run wires down to the fuse box to make it work. The older vehicles according to the dealer did have the plug and it was a simple install, but not now with the Chevys. Again, your GMC may be completely different. I personally don't know, just letting you know 3rd party hearsay. LOL..

I love my running lights, they are sharp!

Edit, I reread your post and see that you are already planning on running straight. Too many things going on around me... LOL
