Hey Big Sam, Do your homework I am not the only guy to get a deal on a new GMC. If it would make your day I could post my window sticker! And no not a gm employee

Actually construction carpenter.

I respectfully call bullshit unless you are a GM employee. That's 14k or 26.4% off. I just dont see it

Actually, if the dealer wants to use the GM discount they most likely could. It is not as strict as it use to be. The GM discount can now be used for friends so as long as they cab find an old or current GM employee to use their name they technically give it to anybody. I got like 21% off of mine and that was in Oct. before the 20% sale started.

That is a flat out lie. I read every single word of the terms and conditions, and it's highly restrictive. There are legal and financial consequences for both the customer and the dealership. GM can sue you and recover cost differences if they found out you don't qualify for the discount.

It's not that easy for GM to catch you because they would have to get suspicious and investigate, but don't say it's not strict just because you broke the explicitly stated rules and didn't get caught.

All discounts are just to get you in the door, you can negotiate from there, my 2015 I bought near the end of November had a sticker price of $52,900.00. I paid $38,900.00

Yeah I am pretty skeptical about this. There is more to the story than savvy negotiating.

I purchased my truck in July. MSRP on my 2015 Denali was $58,040. Employee pricing brought it down to $50,983 and then I got $3,750 in rebates bringing total cost down to $47,223 (+TTL). That totals 19% and it was a steal.

This was a cash deal. No financing. I took pictures of my window sticker and my purchase agreement. I blocked out my vin and personal info

There is a glut on the market for pickups due to the low prices of oil

The dealer had the truck on the lot since the beginning of the year when the dollar was at par. This is canadian price. If you do the conversion to US funds the deal gets better

File is too big. Can someone help me out

Thanks

I am not saying to do something illegal, I am just stating that it is now Friends and Family. At least it was in October. My Uncle is GM and I used it but they were telling me and also on the sheet that I received says all you had to be was a friend of a now or retired GM employee. A few years ago you had to be closer in relations to use it.

You know one thing I also just remembered. I got a Double Cab and when I was getting ready to finalize the deal I noticed that I seen a Crew Cab with a MSRP not that far off from the Double Cab that I was getting so I had the dealer work up the difference and it would have raised my lease $167.00 more a month because two things. the GM discount was like $3000 less for the Crew Cab which was strange. I did check it out on the GM Employee's website and it was right. Plus there was another incentive that did not work with the Crew Cab. I guess they are selling not as many Double Cabs so they gave a deeper discount. Hell I even got my dealer to throw in a full year of full service XM Radio.

I was actually considering paying cash myself, but wasn't sure how it would affect the transaction. Some say you'll get a better price if you finance, because the dealer will make money on the loan. Others say that cash is king and you'll do better that way. Does anyone have experience paying cash and how it worked for them in negotiation?

The dealer gave me two prices. One cash and one with zero% financing

On the other hand my brother in law bought a dodge - he knows the dealer and the dealer told him if he finances it he can give him a better deal. He went in to the Royal Bank the next month and paid off the loan. The bank whined

Mine came with a 12 month free trial too. I didn't ask for it - the details just showed up in the mail.

Yea, They started giving that on Crew Cabs in Nov. or Dec. It was not an incentive when I got mine. I have only had brand new cars and trucks since I have been driving (over 40 years) and I always ask for everything. All they can say is no but sometime you get just about everything.

"Cash" can mean actual cash or your own financing. There are basically two prices - 1. You pay with your own means (cash or your own bank loan) or 2. Dealer financing.

There is often a lower price with dealer financing because they get kickbacks from their lenders, but that does not tell the whole story. Sometimes when the dealer offers 0% financing then there are other rebates you are not eligible for. Also interest rate is super important. You might walk in with a loan for 2% from your own bank but the dealer offers you 5% with dealer financing. You have to do the math then, if your 2% interest + slightly higher truck price is a better deal than 5% dealer finance + lower truck price.

Of course the best thing to do then is to secure cash or your own financing with ultra low interest rate, then go take dealer financing and get the lower truck price, then refinance/pay off your dealer loan the next month with your own cash or financing. You will really piss off the dealer but hey you gotta look out for yourself.

Cash is not king anymore by a long shot, the opposite actually. Dealer doesn't care how you pay and would prefer financing with them.

The only thing they wouldn't do is let me put the truck on my Visa card. They didn't want to eat the probably 3% transaction fee on a $40,000 purchase. I sure would have gotten a lot of miles...

Hey man, i meant no disrespect. That price is just so absurdly low it's hard to believe. Like Jrash said, the GM dealers actually have their hands tied by GM corporate. They cannot sell the truck below a certain price, or they get in deep shit with GM. maybe you somehow managed to somehow stack every obscure incentive, good cash back month, dealer gave some coupons, ect ect but 26%? Hard to believe.
