Fram Tough Guard, any good?

Time to change the air filter and wondering if anyone has any experience with the FRAM Tough Guard? We got lots of fine dust here in AZ. The original AC Delco filter looks good but is getting brittle and time to change 24K miles.

I prefer Wix for both air and oil filters. Tried and true construction/quality.

 

You'll probably be fine with the Fram. Please don't use their cheaper line of oil filters. Horrific.

Yeah its gotten brittle. I pulled it out to check it and the pleats are brittle, running to the store to pick up a new one today.

You should check out the AEM Dryflow as well. They aren't that much more than the paper filters and can be cleaned and reused.

NO! Stay away from Fram. There are too many good filters out there to settle for a Fram.

 

Use Wick/Napa Gold, Mobil 1, K&N, and or AEM.

I use ONLY Mobil 1 filter on my dd and race car. Never one single issue.

Anything other than Fram they are the cheapest filters made.

 

The original filters in these trucks where great GM pulled a Fram though an made them cheaper.

 

Anything to save a buck anymore.

 

I have a big stock pile of the old PF63's the new e one is junk.

For better or worse I'm running the Fram Tough guard. Honestly I understand all the hate for Fram oil filters but IME haven't had any issues with their air filters in the past. I'll be the guinea pig and let you know how it performs after 12K miles. I would have went AC Delco but they didn't have any in stock.
